Braid to mono backing knot
Brian S replied to Dane Vanderheyden's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
Depending on how big the mono is, I might also use an Albright knot. Sent from my SM-G975U using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

Selling my 2016 Lund. It's a 1750 Rebel XS WT. I am the second owner, bought in September of 2016. Original owner purchased from Hannefin marine in June of 2016. - motor is a 90hp Mercury 4 stroke with 153 hrs per the SC1000 smartcraft tach. Tach gives digital readout of several functions as well as troll control which works fantastic for motor idle control while trolling. Motor oil and filter along with lower case oil changed annually with Merc products. Non ethanol fuel only. Has Mercury platinum warranty through June of 2021 which should be transferable for 75 bucks. - 24V minn kota powerdrive v2 electric trolling motor. - minn kota 3 bank battery charger - baystar hydraulic steering with the upgraded seastar hoses -humminbird helix 5 graph - adjustable Cisco led light wired to a push button switch. Not currently mounted as I had it on track, but it's great for getting set up in the morning -bimini top with front winshield. Zippers are all there to add side and rear curtains - pair of older cannon mag 10's with swivel bases mounted on Bert's 8" mounts - Fixed Traxstech rod holders mounted in bow area Boat comes with 4 pedestal seats and has the flip down seats/ casting platform, although I removed it because I mainly troll. Also has factory cover. Trailer is a 2016 Lund badged Shorelander. It has CE guide ons but I also have the originals that go with it. Other normal stuff included bumpers, mooring lines, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, anchor, flotation devices. Overall good condition with some wear, dock rash ect. It's an excellent multi species fishing rig and has been used as such. Located in Conesus, NY. Asking $19500, or BO. 585 519 9813. Congratulations on getting it working. I basically did the same thing installing my Raymarine system. Left a "plug" out of the backbone and it wouldn't work. Luckily I found my answer online with a quick search. I too thought it was just an extra part, lol. Autopilot has been the best upgrade I've made and I've heard nothing but great things on that Lowrance system. Enjoy it. Sent from my SM-G975U using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Came on my new to me boat and I am not planning on using it. 24V, 50" shaft, and I believe 70lb thrust. Tested it before I pulled it of boat, runs good. No Ipilot but I believe this model can be converted. Located in Conesus, but I work in Rochester area, not shipping it. $500. 585 519 9813 Sent from my SM-G975U using Lake Ontario United mobile app -
Its fun watching the inline boards go under like a bobber when a big king smacks it though. I usually just pray I get my board back. Like fishingfool mentioned, good quality high speed reels go a long way in making it a more enjoyable experience. I've slowly been upgrading as funds allow. My first season out, my dipsy reels were so bad everyone prayed for rigger fish. All you'd here is "Come on, not the dipsy again!" Sent from my SM-G975U using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Cannon vs. Scotty downriggers
Brian S replied to nickihoyboy's topic in Questions About Trout & Salmon Trolling?
When I was in the market for riggers this past spring to replace my tired, worn out older mag 10's those were the 2 brands I considered. I looked at the Scottys at the fishing expo in Niagara and was impressed. I liked the tilt up feature, the clutch/brake, and they seemed easier to jog upward by pressing a button vs the Cannons tend to want to "auto" up like a car window when you push the switch up. Ended up buying a lightly used set of Cannon Stx's from a member here that were just a couple seasons old and in great shape for a darn good price. They seem BETTER built to me than those they replaced and not just because they were old. They made the old ones look like toys. Probably wont go wrong with either brand. If I had bought new they would have been Scottys. Glad to hear you are doing better and able to get back out there and fish. Sent from my SM-G975U using Lake Ontario United mobile app -
Most people say, the shorter the copper length, the longer the leader. Somewhere between 30-50 feet. My shorest copper is a 150 and my longest, a 500. Leaders are at 35ft on all and I have caught fish on all of them. Sent from my SM-G975U using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I have run those before but never with really heavy gear pulling on them. I found them to be just ok but never loved them. I went back to inlines for now and only run shorter, shallower gear out on them. If i want to run a long, heavy copper I send it down the chute. Alot of people seem to like Amish Outfitter boards or Auroras. When I go back to big boards I might give the Amish Outfitters a try. Sent from my SM-G975U using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Sold / Closed Cisco 42 degree Lund mounts
Brian S posted a topic in Classifieds - Buy, Sell, Trade or Rent
I have 4 of these mounts for sale. One fell off the boat and the knobs got a little buggered up but it still works fine. They can be used for individual rod holders or better yet used to attach track to Lunds sport trac. $40 bucks each plus shipping. Sent from my SM-G930V using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

Sandy afternoon

Fished in front of Sandy this morning until around noon. Bite was sporadic for me as was the graph. Tried depths from 50 fow and 20-30 down out to 150 fow and 50-80 down. The best for us was 100-120 fow and 55-75 down. Went something like 8-11ish with a couple lakers, a steelie and the rest kings. Left my longer junk lines home anticipating a more shallow bite but got 1 laker on a 5 color. Couple salmon on riggers, but the slide divers did most of the work. All came on Stinger spoons and in the UV flavor. Inmate Orange, Green Alewife, Seasick Waddler, and good old Caddyshack bailing me out again. Not on my picture taking game today either......
