So Ive run wire on my dipsy rods for last three seasons. Obviously they get a ton of use. Suddenly this season snapped off three rigs. Inspection finds grooves in 4-5 eyelets on every rod where the largest bend happens in the rod...when I stripped wire off and put new wire on i found damage in many places on the old wire. Trying to pick replacement rods that wont do that have twili tips on them all at this point and Im using a dremel to grind out the grooves. However I would prefer to replace them all. I have ordered an Okuma White Diamond swivel roller top 10 foot rig but they are pricey to try out... What do you guys use? I know several that use blue diamond okuma that are cheaper no roller tip... Sent from my iPad using Lake Ontario United

I don’t know what to think about the electrical field component ... that said my mag 10s have “ion control” my previous riggers didn’t. I’m dubious that much is transferring down a cable 60-150 feet through water but hey I might be ignorant of the facts ... Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Just received notice of a planned lamprey treatment of the Cayuga Ithaca channel all the way to the inlet in the lake slated for August or Sept. The letter warned that during high water years during their spawning time that the traps installed do not function and can see wounding rates of up to 83 percent resulting in significant deaths....They listed the years that this has happened and their previous response.....glad to see it....so far out of 30 fish I have pulled the last couple weeks one had a rey on it....no others had injuries..and that rey ran afoul of the filet knife....and now sleeps with the fishes...

Happily back in action on Cayuga this weekend ... fished Saturday and Sunday mornings in our knock the rust off annual first exploration and find the fish trip... went 5 for 6 on Saturday four landlocked and one laker ... mostly surface to 30 down then shifted gears on Sunday and went after lakers and some surface landed 14 lakers lost a board hook up and missed a few hookups maybe 5 or so... most action deep Sunday.... largest were two 32 inches clocking in at 13 pounds ... we can consider the rust knocked off !! PS: there are some really bad dead head logs around treman and the inlet and outer shallows on south end... I am putting a crew together on my boat to clear them if possible this weekend...be careful in that area some are barely visible.... Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
