First time ever fishing Canandaigua lake. We did all right had a late start Saturday. Caught that brown on a 3 color core. Awesome fight! I thought I was definitely placing first on the brown category…..NOT! Those were some nice fish on that board. All in all it was fun and caught plenty of fish.
Also I would imagine that these fish have to be spooked as heck during the derby. Lots of action I would imagine the fish get shy. Nick I agree with the week after.🤪Always seem to do well then. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
Hop sorry Fishy gave me a ring and is going to check them out. If he ends up not wanting them they are set aside for you. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
I have been down there by the discharge stream recently in the fall. Water was steaming and hot! Not to mention how would the trout swim up through to make into spawning grounds? That’s water was bad Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
What about a eel weir or something similar? Doesn’t the Cayuga inlet have something where they can collect adult lamprey from the ladder? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
Les I fish it down the chute. Hooks are pretty sharp. Very well could be slack issues. I’ll take these techniques into consideration next time I’m out. Thanks for the info! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
Most are lakers right now. I usually have been letting out my 400. It’s definitely one of the top producing rods. Just like for every 5 hook ups I’m losing 3. I was just wondering with it being there is no stretch in the copper also I use fluorocarbon leader. But if you guys think it’s a slack line issue then I will definitely try to keep that in mind and keep the tension. Thanks again guys for the input! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
So I fish the finger lakes. I never put on a paddle spin doctor ect... just a spoon.Do you think it’s more of a slack line problem vs a low stretch it’s ripping out problem? Thanks for the input[emoji3] Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
Just wondering if there is something I’m doing wrong... can’t seem to keep a fish on when I’m reeling in a a fish on a long copper. I keep the drag set light they just seem to pop off. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
I was out of Deans Cove today. Caught 5 lakers on 400 wire. Scorpion spoon. On barley legal LL. Riggers were just not productive.... though I did catch this 10lber 32inch on the 400, took about 20min to real in. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

This maybe obvious to some... just wondering when trolling with these lead cores and copper lines should I be running what the down speed says? Or should I be running the gps speed. Just can’t seem to get them to fire. Don’t know if I’m using them correctly. Thanks for any input Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
