  1. Fished Saturday morning out of Oswego, caught a couple nice 7 lb browns lost a couple, was rainy, cold, fog, my hands were numb. Felt like fishing in Alaska. Seemed best marks were close to the light house with a few charters trolling in and out of the harbor, which seemed weird. Didn't seem like there were tons of fish caught but didn't talk to anyone else. 1st trip to test out my Garmin ps-30 panoptix,,,will take some getting used to to figure out how it can help me. Long leads for browns didn't seem to tell me much except where the balls were.
  2. Yea that's taking it a little too far,,lol,,,I hate windy Saturdays! I have a fishing story with politics story, I went on vacation to peorto rico this March. Flew Into San Juan then drove to Rincon. Figured I would book an offshore fishing trip for mahi mahi, wahoo or tuna. Beautiful boat, 36 foot center console. Paid a premium with just my wife and I. Soon after the charter started the captain started complaining about trump to my wife. Immediately I stopped the conversation and said I didn't pay for a charter to talk politics. My wife ofcourse did not back down. After the 3rd time he started up the conversation I finally shut it down. While fishing all he did was talk, talk, talk about how pissed he was that his girlfriend got a "work remotely" job during covid and now with the new administration she is asked to go into the office in San Juan, which is 4 hours away from the house she bought during remote work.STILL on the u.s. Caribbean island! Trump this trump that,,,while the lures collected weeds. I told him please clean off the lures, finally after 3 hours he pulled in and 1 of the 4 lines was bit off with no lure and another was full of weeds. We did catch a couple junk barracuda., but no target fish. There goes 1000.00 bucks. Can't seem to understand how someone who goes to work on a boat everyday in the Caribbean without wearing shoes can be so miserable, but could guess who his political party was pretty easily. I did not leave him a review although expressing my dissatisfaction on here is quite enough.
  3. Well said HB2, we finally have someone in office that cares about the future of the country, even if it hurts a little,,,and the best sidekick on the planet,,,waiting for the deficit needle to turn downward, hope they can do it! For our kids future.
  4. Just some advice about the coarse from new york parks and rec,,,,my opinion,,,,,,so I paid for the coarse $35 dollars or something like that. Started good, informative, then I kept on getting a pop-up that said complete the coarse faster by paying 15 bucks and take the coarse interactively, then last chance to finish faster so I paid the extra,,,big mistake,,it took me to ilearntoboat.com and the interactive coarse was horrible. Cartoonish story's to click through that had nothing to do with boating, solving some mystery of creatures on the water, some mystery of stolen boats,,just bizarre stuff to click through. Don't click the interactive coarse!!
  5. Thanks for your help with launch info!!,,,joe
  6. Where can I launch a 26 foot penn yan intruder in pultneyville? Never fished there and want to give browns a shot there. Joe
  7. Lake ontario is a tough fishery to learn. But when you figure it out it can be a lot of fun. It takes years in my opinion. Spring and fall are the times to fish for "warm water fish" in my opinion, or through the ice for pike, that's easy. Most if not all of those charters you see are targeting trout and salmon especially in the summer.if you want walleye, then, One thing you can do is book a trip with Yankee troller on Oneida lake then drag your boat down there and do what he did. He posted he limited out the other day. As for me I owned a cottage on sandy pond for 6 years, I can count On one hand how many great days I had out there. Now I fish west,,,and sometimes I fish east but find myself telling my brother how many fish I catch out west,,lol By the time the salmon reach the east end they only bite the 10 percent of the time that I'm at work. And yes it sounds like you may have gotten spoiled with salt water fishing, however I'm sure you learned the ins and outs of saltwater fishing, tides, etc,,,,,I do think saltwater fish feed completely different than freshwater.
  8. I like kayak fishing as well, as well as any and all type of fishing. But I yield to bigger boats, I even went in the river and caught a salmon this weekend, but would never never mention it on this website,,,oops😁
  9. One thing off subject but a frustration rant is kayakers just crossing in front of bigger boats, happened a couple times this weekend, not sure what these guys are thinking but do they let their kids play in the middle of the road. Was coming into Mexico launch and this kayaker figured he would park in the channel just behind the break wall as I'm coming in with big waves pushing the boat around, had to tell at him to get the heck out of the way. Lol
  10. Fished this weekend out of Mexico bay, well kinda. Got out solo for a couple hours on Saturday evening no bites but not out there long. Went out Sunday morning before the advisory wind kicked up with a few guys, fish seemed scattered or we just didn't have the time to find them. Was a grind for us. Around 80-100 feet in front of big river. Current, temp ,not stable..Monday we went out and was just too much wind and waves for us so we just went from s.r. to Mexico and pulled boat. Saw 2 other boats in the lake and one trailer in Mexico boat launch so others just bagged that day too. With a 19 foot boat I would have a plan B in a harbor or something with casting rods, or maybe get lucky with the wind cause this weekend wasn't good even with a 26 foot boat.,Good luck!
  11. Stick with the 10a's , the new mag 10's with the "fastest retriever" is where the problem lies. That discussion has been on the forum before. Last year I switched to 180 lb cable and solved the broken wire issue,,,this year the only issue I have is the new cannons have blown 3 fuses, they just too fast.
  12. I don't think auto stop works on braid on the cannon mag 10's. Maybe someone else has tried the autostop with braid and give their experience
  13. Yep, I cancelled a 3 day trip to oak this year because windfinder was calling 25 mph wind. Stayed home and my friend reported calm seas and a blood bath. Wind report not looking great this weekend but I'm going. It's getting late!!
  14. I use 180lb Scotty wire with the cannon mag 10 riggers, never had a problem with wire breaking after I switched to thicker wire..I don't use snubbers but do set the slip clutch on riggers
  15. Friday, fished 180 to 220 out in front big river a little towards plant. Tough fishing, marked tons of fish piled into the bay,,had a rough time getting anything to bite. Tried spoons,ff,meat rigs,,,changed direction, changed bait changed speeds,,,,fished a long time. Only caught 1 decent salmon.saturday, fished for browns 80-120 feet in Mexico bay because of a stiff SSE wind,,real bumpy. Most boats pegged close to the plant. Caught a couple browns and called it a day. Lots of bait in the bay
