Troy Creasy of High Adventure Sportfishing: The hard northeast wind definitely stirred up the big pond this weekend but the kings did not go far. This report courtesy of the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning. This report was written on August 9, 2018. Lake Ontario report: Anglers are continuing to find good fishing on the lake. Kings and a few trout have been active in a range of water depths from 100 to 500 feet. Just this week a couple of nice 30+ pound salmon have been reported. Cut-bait, flashers and flies, and spoons have been working well. According to Capt. Troy Creasy of High Adventure Sportfishing: A big sloppy northwest chop plagued us throughout the day making conditions less than pleasant. The fish still wanted to chew and all our clients were very happy. Oswego River report: The water level had been running between 1,000-2,000cfs over the last couple of days. Due to some rainfall in the region, the flow reached over 3,000cfs early today but is down to 2,610cfs late this morning. Anglers are finding a few walleye, bass, sheepshead and a catfish or two along the river. Notice: The bridge to Leto Island is closed, and there are mandatory personal flotation device (PFD) zones on the river. For more information, view the Brookfield Varick Fish Safely Brochure below. Oswego County posted a topic in Lake Ontario Counties (LOC) - Fishing Reports
This report courtesy of the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning. This report was written on July 19, 2018. Lake Ontario report: According to Capt. Troy Creasy of High Adventure Sportfishing Charters: The great fishing on Lake Ontario continues. It might not be the bloodbath for everybody that we had over the last two months but we were spoiled and it is still very good. The nice thing is they are spread out east to west and north to south and on any given day you can catch multiple species. The deep water is giving up plenty of chinooks and a few ironheads mixed in, and if you stay in the short water, the kings and browns have been plentiful. You can also throw in a couple bonus lake trout and steelhead as well. The spoon bite continues to be good especially early in the day, but as the sun gets high and the chinooks move a little deeper meat and atomik flies are taking most of our bites.
