didn't see this sorry late reply
4lbs is an absolute giant in either lake.
anyone caught anything over 2lbs ?
biggest chains on live minnow off deep water close to weed lines i mean close . mid lake on Hemlock is best....good luck
Nice report!!
wow lake gets cold going down is that 48degrees at 50s ? probably why I always had better luck trolling higher from my kayak with a dipsey rig.
also jigged it but only had luck with bass minnows in 40-50 fow just a slow drag.
it can be really tough in summer Hemlock is a little more forgiving .
great info here thanks
Go to Dean's on Cayuga and catch fish alot of reports here.
we kayaked Canandaigua this weekend a total zoo stay away and fishing will never match Cayuga
biggest Bow I ever saw come outta there was a 12lbs male a guy had in a cooler at the north end about 10 years ago.
caught on a streamer he told me the guy was in a small Whaler.
It was a sight to behold
I soloed alot from a 16 foot Smokercraft out of Golden Hills. Alot of Kings from 100 on in in late summer did really well early am there miss it alot ! I pulled 1 dipsey rod and 1 rigger all I needed .
Brown action was good too.
Just always looked for S -SW winds less than 1 foot and keep an eye on the radar !!!
Good luck be careful a radio is a good idea too.
Hello SK8 are you fishing under slip bobbers like 40 ft down? wondering i tried this on Hemlock and caught big largemouth and smallies suspended years ago
there are porta potties at the gravel launches , both have back down gravel launches many boats launch there . 1 north end and south end at Hemlock.
1 back down launch at Canadice East side half way down.
no docks at all and kinda shallow when I had a 16 footer I wore waders on both lakes . I carry my kayak or drag and dump it in anywhere I can muscle that sucker to waters edge ...love it
We fish from kayaks on both lakes, Canadice can be a bit more busy on weekends especially using the kayak drop area close to the south end.
Pan fishing both lakes along the shore line is fun tons of sunnies and I do target crappies they are tough to find a bit more searching around log jams and structure close to shore.
If you are strong paddlers go to Hemlock south end and paddle the shore line you can't miss a few bass and pan fish . less congested more room to roam.
good luck keep an eye on the wind
Hi dre alot of boats at the North end yesterday I went for a walk with my wife the water looked still murky and cold think it needs 2 weeks to settle down
Invasive Asian swamp eels ....seems somehow 🤔 like wtf right? there was a report of them in the lake .
hey thanks for the replies if I get down there I will leave a detailed report I also yak fish have had success pulling dipsey divers for lakers. also crappies on minnows
