Took a friend out who never caught a salmon before. That changed ! Ran out northeast to 140 where the first bait showed on the screen. Setup on a west troll, took 3 shots and 3 misses. Ran another 45min-hr on hunt and had a clear screen. Pulled lines and ran back to original spot, setup on a east troll, graph got better and water got better. Landed one 12# and decided to hunt straight north. Game on. Filled the box (he wanted meat and has 5 kids to feed) and tossed a few healthy ones back. Only one Skippy in the mix. All were 12-18# with one big momma who didn't fit in the box. Ended up in the 430 range and when we pulled lines the graph was covered with giant hooks. Everything took fish except the 8+10 color bonus rods. Fish were loving the 55° temp. Was typically around 60-75 down. Flashers, meat, spoons. Variety of colors. Deep and high. Big girl swallowed the meat on the 61 rigger. Lake was flat and the action was solid. Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Dan. Not gonna lie, I laughed a bit when she dove. Great job holding stuff together. Luckily you had some hands on the boat to help. Good stuff bro,as always. Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -

Right ducer is step one, then make sure all "info" is set to local, not global on ducer settings. Might also need to be set to "this unit" Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

I agree. Cover ground with sticks and forget the worms. Downspeed 2.2-2.3, graph will prob show 2.5-2.6. Don't be shy with the speed. I never had to hunt them and stayed on the same stretch all week, hit 30fow and trolled west from Lewis point. Even a couple deep divers off boat and do S turns through 29-34fow is a stupid simple program that will work. Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Get some leadcore for browns. U don't need giant reels or line counters. Low leads will always have a place for you if your targeting browns. There's a company "Chinook stainless divers" out of Rochester and a few guys run those with success for browns. Can be run with a heavy mono or braid setup, smaller line counters will be perfect for that. A nice collection of spoons and stickbaits are all you need. A handful of natural colors for the green/ gin water and some bright oranges / greens for stained water. I'm no expert these are just my experiences. Others will also chime in with better intel too. Good luck ! Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Either lake gets tricky quick. Less likely to encounter 4+ foot waves on Oneida but you can't compare the size difference on Erie. If your gonna be keeping the meat, limit is another thing to consider. Depending on length of your trip, you could limit out 2 or 3 days on Erie with 4-8# fish and have 2x the meat of 7 straight days on Oneida. I recently have been on the walleye program and did Oneida 2 weeks ago for a family vacation and have hit Erie 2x since that trip. I would pick Erie. There's lots of fish to be caught in places even if the lake is rocking. Inside the small boat harbor or just outside the breakwall is typically ok even with a blowing wind. Either choice, good luck and have fun !! Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
