Shoot. Line guy, I was thinking topside rod holders. Those 2 brackets riveted to the boat are staying. I'm currently researching a Berkley product to see if it will fit. Something like this so I can mount it right in there. Need to verify width first. https://www.cabelas.com/product/Berkley-Horizontal-Rod-Racks/700061.uts?productVariantId=1191566&WT.tsrc=PPC&WT.mc_id=GoogleProductAds&WT.z_mc_id1=00007192&rid=20&ds_rl=1252079&gclid=Cj0KCQjw4_zVBRDVARIsAFNI9eCJE5FTWcQAv5mW6x_BKPs_CgKW0qz56vdNp0D7DYiUggd70UUfcpUaAhQ2EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Edges of the carpet , I used a mastic like (trowel on) adhesive which is water proof. It was very tacky and I'll assume will hold well. The lighter grey( lower piece ) has a lip on the back/ top side and I let the carpet curl around an in which will also help. The lower section where the carpet meets the vinyl has a small 1/2" that dives in towards the outside of the boat, I just made sure I had complete coverage of the carpet and it layed very easily. Time will tell but I think it will hold up great. The vinyl had a different adhesive. Nautolex (vinyl manufacturer) makes a " No. 88" which is a paint like, roll on adhesive. Was a pain to lay as you have to butter vinyl and floor and allow time for it to setup before installing. I had read a few reviews that folks used the standard Lowe's exterior carpet adhesive on the vinyl and it either didn't hold up or there was bleed through on the vinyl. As far as the rod holders I will definitely be posting pics, but they are a few notches down on the TO DO list. I'm going to reinforce with some wood backing on some spots but from the factory there is already some aluminum reinforcements. Nothing was riveted on my gunnels. Dang. Today's work was tedious. Rear seat bases in and all screws got 3m 5200. Gas filler cover / rear tin installed. Shelves in and carpeted and flush mount LEDs wired and (butt connectors got electric grease) in as well. Perfect ambient light for the night cruises. 2nd Brown run Olcott 3/29
NymphO replied to NymphO's topic in New York Fishing Reports - Lake Ontario (South Shore)
Would you believe me if I told you this was my 2nd brown trip, ever !?! Seriously. I've got a buddy I go with that is a weekend warrior and I've done so much reading and listening and still have a ton to learn. Yesterday's success was due to a few things. When we got out there 8-20' was "gin" clear water. You could see the bottom in 20fow. First off that's a tough bite and the program has to stay natural colors. We trolled for a bit on a slow bite and decided to find better water, or turbid greenish / dark water. We ended up at the mouth of keg creek in 8fow where the water went from gin to straight green. We immediatly were on fish with greens/copper, blue greens, bright green/orange etc. Even had one suck down a 8" firetiger rapala. Finding that green water was a day saver. We did circles in a 1/4 mile stretch and hooked up every pass on at least 1 fish. Gin clear days you gotta find the turbid water or any change in color as that's most likely where the fish are. Trust me, I'm a rookie so I'm positive there are better teachers out there. This site is a wealth of fishing knowledge so just stay tuned. Haven't seen a question not answered here yet ! We Def bounced off some large structure just east of piers in 8-10fow. Saw it on the graph, couldn't move fast enough. That was when the release (wire) just snapped off. Swivel was still there and not bent.... Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app -
Slow start to the morning. Gin clear. Had 2 fattys outside the pier in 19fow. Lost one AT THE BOAT....!!!!! Spit the spoon just outside net distance. Bite shut down so went back to keg and found a small patch of good water. Stuck with natural spoons and a stick here and there. Fat Nancy and 57 Chevy were the hot ones, but everything worked and we caught a bunch of smaller grade fish. 15/17 then the rain came so we pulled out. Not many pics cause the rain was steady. Lost gear count for the day: Downrigger ball w/release Downrigger release OR clip off board 4 spoons 1 bay rat Lived to tell though..... Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Thanks for the comments my friends, I appreciate it. Was back at it tonight for a bit. Had an extra set of hands so I took advantage. Put carpet around back end. Did a two tone for some character. I wanted to do the darker on the bottom to contrast the floors but was out voted and I'm still satisfied. The lower section is not carpeted from the factory but I figured it would beat painting and give some "cushion" when I'm landing giants between the swells of lady O. Put counsel back in and now I begin the bow building. Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

Short night tonight since I'm burnt out. Cut some holes in the side panels for flush mount led lights, took controls off. Replaced a few more rivets. Prepped for carpet. Will get back at it asap. I'm gonna not piece meal the carpet as it was from factory,I'll be doing longer sections. Just have to cut/install shelf bottoms then it's carpet time Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app

If I have to get to fuel tank, I'll be pulling the floor ! I'd rather have less chance of water infiltration than access to gas tank. Sending unit is newer and I rewired as well, hoses were replaced. I figured it would be more likely that water would get in and rot wood / saturate foam Vs something going wrong with (aluminum) tank. Sent from my XT1650 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
