So I have two Scotty rod holders and want two more holders. I’m talking about the ‘plastic’ 3 position ones. I see the Cannon brand ones cost less and their extenders are half the price of Scotty. Before I order, because I cannot find any local stores, any opinions on the two brands? Are the Cannons lighter weight materials and a that is why cheaper? I use them to troll on Keuka and Seneca. Any experience information would be appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
Had a great day Sunday as a first time visitor to the show. It will be an annual event. Learned you shouldn’t buy your lead until you’re ready to leave! Unfortunately the north wind and whitecaps kept me from launching for an afternoon on the water. Looks like I might have to skip work one day this week due to my arm being in a cast[emoji23]🤥[emoji476] Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
Seriously guys, I’m getting close to retirement and if I don’t get better at this trout fishing it’s not going to be good. I’m planning to launch from Watkins on Sunday if the waves aren’t too bad. PM me if you’re interested in showing me how it’s done. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
Well Santa brought me trailer tires and rod holders; maybe Easter bunny bring me a shiny new fish finder! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
Wow I could probably charge you inboard motor guys for one hour trips out onto the lake [emoji857][emoji106] Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
Bring a boat, there is a free launch there and the rainbows are lurking off shore[emoji15][emoji304][emoji476][emoji226] Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
Sk8 As I said, it seems to work fine for depth, weed vs smooth bottom, [emoji226] unless it is lying 🤥. Fishing keuka 50-100 ft my cone certainly should be bigger than my boat shouldn’t it? I’ll look into your ideas about settings. I did crank up the sensitivity but that didn’t help. Jigging without seeing the lure really is the pits. I’ve measured the line going down. No bites. Maybe my ff IS lying about them too! This hobby is such a money pit I’d rather not have to buy another. Already have one on tm and one on dash. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
If I cannot see a huge 3 oz jigging spoon on my ff, is my transducer shot? I see depth and fish but no spoon! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
Congrats on the Fantastic fish! And still there to be caught again! I love the display of all the fancy, expensive equipment you used[emoji12] All that while I was just burning fuel on the other branch [emoji26] Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
Tonight I discovered a missing bolt on my engine mount. It appears to me that loose bolts have allowed slippage over time. Assume this is original engine setup, should I raise engine to the original position of the bolts?
And is that rectangular pad where I should lift the 400 pound engine using hydraulic floor jack?

Thanks for the word. The closed mouth perch makes me think there might be something to those lunar phase ideas! Early December it was just the opposite with great results that one weekend I didn’t go. Firmed up a plan for a Saturday trip. I hate the drive to Branchport mostly because the boat is faster than that lake road [emoji16]. Looking into an east side launch near bluff. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
Now I know there had to be some fishing over the warm weekend even though I couldn’t get out there. So what’s the story other than sk8 finding lakers everywhere? [emoji16] I’m talking soft water Saturday temp near 50 darn the wind and waves! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
I’m just saying, did you ever notice, those of us who would never dream of getting a tattoo, never say anything about one? There is nothing but positive reinforcement, which encourages more ink. Just saying. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
Thanks. There’s the kind of info I’m looking for. Work them straight under the boat or float them out the back? Eyelet or hole in pipe? I’ve been using a quart bottle of gravel floated under two liter bobber. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
So it is starting to look like I’ll be ‘investing’ a little over a hundred dollars in molds and melting. I found a local recycler selling lead. Of all the gear being sold on here I’m shocked at the lack of weights. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
The plywood in the back of my drivers seat was shot. The other three seats weren’t much better. Got an estimate of $280 to replace the plywood. That’s not happening. All four seats repaired would be nice.
So about $15 in materials and a thousand staples pulled waalla a solid seat! Easier than one might think - one trip to Lowe’s - give it a try!
