  1. Launched this AM then found launch barricaded returning this afternoon. Decent bite off Webster Park in 22-35 FOW. Spoons on riggers down 18 ft and 3 colors leadcore off boards did the trick. Green/silver/black colors along W Carmel Dolphin were hot. Pray for sunshine no more rain!!
  2. Any issue with water level at the State launch at Sea Breeze? Any info is appreciated!
  3. We launched there Tues afternoon with no problem. The first ten feet of dock is 5” underwater.
  4. I looked at the launch today and couldn’t determine how long the concrete ramp is. Will my tandem axel trailer drop off the end before the boat floats? 23’ GW on a 26’ trailer. Just need to submerge the fenders, ( 28” of water). Any info is appreciated!
  5. East troll out of I-Bay, lines wet at 07:30. Michigan Stinger pattern Off planer boards W a down rigger in the prop wash. The bite started around Webster Park and continued strong to Ninemile Point. 15-22 FOW produced the best action. Shanster Gold And Sodus Buckeye were hot with Chicken Wing and Fat Nancy taking hits. Boated a mixed bag of brownies and a 18 lb King. Great morning on L.O.
  6. Hoping to do a shake down Saturday out of Hughes Marina. Anyone know if they are open? I called all day without success and their voice mail box is full. Thanks!
  7. Anyone know if Conesus lake is fishable? Thanks!
  8. Thank you for the reports. I’m on the road through Saturday and wish I was out on the lake too. Super JEALOUS! LOL!
  9. NO BANANAS AND NO TOFU ON THE BOAT!!! 🤣
  10. I want to run meat heads this week and wonder if anyone runs MC Rockets? Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.....
  11. Thank you for the report Laurie. If the gear is running well, half the battle is won! Good luck this week. Cheers!
  12. We’re you running flashers/flies or spoons? Thanks for the report Doc!
  13. I have always fished the dawn patrol. I wish to take my wife out, (not a morning person), for a troll. Has anyone had any luck this year on the “O” during early evening hours? Thanks!
  14. Drove NW out of the creek and started to set lines in 120 FOW. Nice king took first line as soon as the rigger was set to 65 feet. Mix of spoons and flasher/flies on the down-riggers with spoons taking most of the hits. All our action was in 150-220 FOW with riggers down at 45-75 feet. Moonshine black/silver ladder back, Dirty White Boy, and Stingray PK Special spoons were hot. Went 9 for 12, all kings with one steel head. The biggest king came on a white/green SD with a green fly. Pops was on the helm and my bro and I ran the gear. Mayhem ensued when we hooked up on our first double! We managed to land both kings. Pulled the gear at 11:30 after the bite slowed down.
  15. Try nws.noaa.gov and click on Near Shore Marine Forecast. It's a good resource and usually accurate. Cheers!
  16. Great report John, thanks! That Kings stomach contents were impressive.
  17. Yes, spoons off the boards W split shot ahead of leader swivel.
  18. I stand corrected killerk. TY sir.
  19. Went out with Pops and my brother on Stingray Charters. We wanted to study how the charter boys run gear in order to sharpen our game. Fished Sodus West to Pultneyville and back on the 8 hour run. It was a Michigan Stinger program off boards 100’ back. We fished in 6-20 FOW with most strikes coming in 10 FOW or less. Bloody Nose, Wonderbread, Purple Frog, Kevorkian, and Spring Chicken were producers with the fish liking copper backed spoons. I was troubled at the number of lamprey scarred fish that we boated, (does the DEC have a control program)? Finished the day 25 for 26 with multiple doubles, and one triple resulting in a species tri-fecta, (brown, rainbow, steelhead), unbelievable! I highly recommend Stingray to anyone interested. Capt Ken generously shared info that I know will improve my crews success. Tight lines!
  20. Pops always asks me before a run, “did you put the plug in?”. Then tells me the story about how he swamped the boat 40 years ago. I laugh every time!
  21. Knox, With 2 colors of lead core off boards, how long of a leader to the lure presentation? Or is the setup lead core, mono, then fluorocarbon tippet? Thanks!
  22. Great report, and thank you for sharing about your dad! I just returned to NYS after a long absence, and fish with my 80 yr old father every chance I get. He really lights up when we get out and run the gear. Catching fish is secondary to the mission. But thanks to all the great tips on this site, we are bringing more fish to the boat. Cheers!
