i checked eBay but only found new 203d reels. the best price i found there was 95.00 with free shipping plus tax.

those reels may be hard to find as they are good reels. i have the 203 which is great for eyes but would be a little small for salmon. i normally run 3 per side so when i bought mine i bought 4 so i would have a spare loaded up and ready to fish if i lost too much line off one while fishing or something went wrong with a reel. but last month Amazon had a sale on the 203 for 85.00 each so i bought 2 more for spares or if i need to upgrade the Daiwa sealine sg17lc3b reels i use on the other side of my boat. i figured i would never beat 85.00 in my lifetime. good luck on your search, you might want to check on eBay for them.

just to be on the safe side with you motor not being charged i would add another group 27 or above deep cycle battery for the riggers. unless you do a lot of up and down the riggers won't use a lot of power, but it may be enough that the motor won't start. you could use the trolling motor battery, but it may shorten your trolling motor time. you can find good batteries and prices at places like Sam's club or where I get my batteries at wall mart. you can also check amazon. batteries should run just over 100.00. but if you have the money to spend on a battery i would get a group 31 deep cycle.

one thing to remember is the goliath grouper is catch and release only unless the rules change for 2023 as far as i know. but i haven't been down in a few yrs. but if you're just fishing for fun they are a hoot to catch. if you want good eating fish see how the red snapper fishing is over there. i didn't really care for king mackerel to eat but they do put up a fight. i have never caught or eat the cobia but my bil that lived down there said they were great catching and eating fish. so good luck and most of all be safe and have lots of fun. then report back on your trip.

you might want to check into a charter going to the dry Tortugas. or charter out for goliath grouper fishing if you just want a hard pull on your line. and I believe the red snapper fishing is great off the west coast with bunches of charters. they eat really good plus you may catch about anything while red snapper fishing. just search for fishing near Saratoga Fl.

she did the work and deserved to be blessed with a buck of a lifetime and on Christmas day. we should all get Christmas presents like that from the hunting gods. but the big God made sure it would happen for her. congrats on her buck and KUDOS to dad for getting her out there. I am really just speechless at the quality of her trophy buck. I do want to hear about what led up to her shot and what type of shot she had to make. because it looks like a perfect hit right in the boiler maker.

I found a lot of primers by doing a search online for them. but just about all were for 1000 which ran from 55.00 up and I didn't check shipping. I did find one place in Canada that had 100 for 12.99 but shipping might be rough. canadagunstore.com i think is their site.

I just bought the 45 caliber Acura v2 with some type of rust prevention coating with the long range barrel that is very accurate out to shots of 150 yards that I am capable of making any more. when i was in the marine corps i had no trouble shooting accurately with the M14 out to 500 meters. and with 150 GRNS of 777 pellets and the powerbelt aerotip long range bullets has all the range and accuracy I will ever need. but thank you very much for the update warning others of the drawbacks of owning the paramount.

I wouldn't even try to out your hunt or experiences on your hunt. but I just wanted to say always be prepared. I went ice fishing one day when the temp was around 20 with no wind so I dressed accordingly. after some time, the wind got nasty. then a short time later I got cold but hung on as long as I could as the crappie fishing was hot. it was a very long walk back to my truck. by the time I got to it I could hardly move I was so cold. fired the truck up and just set there waiting to warm up a bit before going home. turned the radio on and they said the temps had dropped to -17 with 20 to 25 mph winds. I wasn't even close to being dressed for that weather. after that I always checked the forecast before going out. but I had just started ice fishing way back in the late 70,s learned my lesson the hard way.

and I need to say I'm sorry for getting off track and high jacking your thread, but no harm intended. loved the buck and all of your story. because I am a deer hunter that can only dream about a hunt like yours. I don't ice fish anymore but still hunt our ML season. started deer hunting back in 1980 and hunted gun bow and ML seasons for many yrs. but now at 71 I only hunt with my ML. I still love deer hunting but don't know for how much longer.

cisco tracks are just as good if not better than the rest for a lot less money.

I only found one item in your post I'm not sure about. you say you only kept 6 fish this year. i don't know anything about the lakes depth or how deep you catch your fish. but walleye over about 30' have a very marginal chance of surviving being released, and the deeper the fish are the lower chance they have. don't get me wrong I'm not saying don't fish but just wanted you to know the effects of releasing them from deep water. I fish Eries central basin in water 70' deep and regularly release smaller fish that's not of legal length that was taken down 60' or deeper. but as long as the fishing is sustained by putting limits on the fish, I plan to keep fishing until I can't fish any more. I'm 71 now and don't know how much longer that will be but I am always happy to share my info with others. and I've got to give you a big KUDOES for your report and this post.

I started fishing Erie back in 1980 and the fishing was awesome. it started going downhill when the zebra mussel took over and the numbers dropped but with conservation efforts the fishing is the greatest it's been since I started fishing Erie.

if the fish numbers drop in numbers, they will drop the limits to sustain the fishery just like they did on erie a few years back. now it's full of new walleye and the drop in limits has been removed.

as inflation gets worse from gas being so high because Branden closing the pipelines so prices would rise so electric autos would sell better has made prices on everything we buy. Cabela's has it for 79.00 plus a 22.00 shipping cost for powder. if you buy 2 8 oz containers the total with shipping would only be 180.00 plus tax. which for me it's 7%.

the main reason I belong to fishing forums is to share information with other fisherman. I did belong to ogf where I got so much help from other people's posts. so, as I improved, I started posting to help other new guys to the sport. I'm proud to be able to share with others what I was doing to catch more fish. if not for reading so many posts on ogf it would have taken me many years to be where I'm at today.

a lead acid battery can be low on water and still show good when tested without doing a load test. this just shows the amount of water is charged. but when trying to start a motor is doesn't start. or put it on a load test and it will show bad every time.

we made the mistake of going to Erie with 2 batteries that had been on the onboard charger all winter and showed fully charged. we docked the boat and plugged up the charger and it showed fully charged the next morning and the motor started great. but we were having problems and shut it down. when we started to go the motor would only crank over real slow then stop. we found the fluid level to be very low and about 1" or more below the plates in the battery. even though we filled these batteries with distilled water and tried charging them it didn't help.

the moral is if your motor doesn't start out on Erie you better have towing insurance through boatus.com with trailer assist for around 100.00 per year or have a good kicker. we had a mercury 9.9 4 stroke, so we trolled where we broke down but just wasn't far enough out to catch many fish. then we used it to get back in.

I just checked these again and the 153d is the only one on sale now. but I got 2 of the 203d reels for 85.00 each when i ordered.

I used to love to make the drive up to northern Indiana in the dead of winter when everything was frozen up to fish an artesian fed pond foe rainbow trout with cheese balls. my friend that got me into this and myself both had full beards. when we fished both our beards would be frozen into icebergs that took forever to thaw out. but we had so much fun doing this, and I didn't even like rainbow trout.

it takes guys like the op to inform other true sportsmen about good places to catch fish. the others will find out about these places one way or the other and still show up.

I fish Lake Erie and you wouldn't believe how tight lipped the people are about information to help others catch more fish. i mean there are so many fish in Erie that the state of Ohio never catches its quota that it's allowed to catch each year., we never even get close to what were allowed to catch. so, what is it going to hurt to share a little knowledge to help others catch fish. they don't have to share their location but the depth of water and what is catching fish at what speed wouldn't hurt them in the least.

I don't understand why it's so high where you found it. cabalas has 8 oz for 79.99 plus an extra 20.00 for shipping. so is you get 2 or more bottles it should only be 20.00 extra shipping for your order. plus, you get free shipping on orders over 50.00 which means the 20.00 is all you have to pay.

i was in the marine corps many yrs ago. i was in from 72 until 76 but i have always felt in my heart i would always be a marine. now i am a disabled vet and i feel proud to have served our country as a marine.
