  1. i have a panther spacer in front of my panther tilt and trim (lift) the spacer gives more motor clearance when the motor is tilted. but any way would it help if i went down and measured the width and height on the panther model 35 to see if you have room. by the way i have a brand new open box model 35 i'll take 450.00 plus shipping if you want it. i think it cost 568.00 plus shipping for a new one. this one hasn't even been mounted. you might as well save a ab 150'00. i bought it and never needed it. i got by changing the motor and actuator on mine. they work great if you want power tilt on a kicker without having it.
  2. just order the motor from bigjon.com and contact them by phone then explain your in a hurry and they should ship it as fast as you want it shipped. and get the heavy duty motor.
  3. i'll need to have them shipped if you accept my offer.
  4. i use the std slide diver but dont know what size it is but its about the same size as a std dipsy. the only rings i have encountered are the small and large rings for this diver. but i think the std or large is a size 1 that has rings then there's the size 00 which is on the small size and has no rings that i know about. now if your wanting to get deeper faster they have a set with the large ring and a 7 oz weight that gets er done.
  5. my recommendation to any new guy on the big water take a charter before even thinking about trying it on their own., i started fishing the big water of lake michigan for salmon. we didnt catch a lot and didnt have a marine radio. then we went out on a trash bag charter. i'll admit the water was a little rough but we were fishing the harbor in the fall. there was 4 of us on the charter. and the caption started out with 2 rods with j-plugs. every other boat around us looked like up side down spiders they had so many rods in the water. and they were catching fish, about 1:00 pm and 2 fish in the boat he added 2 more rods. man that was the sickest i had ever been. we came in and that was that. but i learned a lot from him and the boats on the radio. we moved to the western basin of erie and drift fished. we got limits just sbout every trip until we didnt. then we trolled and still got limits just about every trip. i had wanted to fish the central basin but was always a little afraid. then a guy i worked with bought a boat off a charter capt. then my friend asked if i wanted to go out on a charter with him. i said yes i sure would. we learned so much from him. then we went up to fish on our own. but i chartered him out our 1st day. by mid day the 2nd day we was running the rods putting out dipsies we was doing it all after 2 days of school. this guy really taught us more than i could have learned in yrs on my own. i dont know what happened to the lake michigan caption. for some reason he didnt like us from the start. but after those 2 days on erie i was running my boat with 3 dipsies per side plus a downrigger per side. now we did get a tangle now and then but now its rare.
  6. with that boat i dont think a kicker weight will be that much of a problem. but if it is just add a set of electric trim tabs. they will level the boat and will give you a much better ride in rough water. if i stayed out and let the water get a little to rough i could lower my trim tabs and run 10 mph faster than i ran without them.
  7. i would go with a motor with electric start and remote controls. if money was available i would get power tilt. but what i did was get a used panther lift power tilt off fb market place. with the set up you have id check around for a rudder control auto pilot. if i couldn't find anything i'd go with kicker remote control. the unit i'd get would be the garmin reactor 40 kicker motor auto pilot with ghc . it's like 2600.00 though. i have auto pilot on my mercruiser i just bought and the guy i bought it from said that he used it with a ez steer. i'm going to try it 1st if it dont work i'll be getting the garmin., good luck.
  8. i'm in the process of mounting a 9.9 merc four stroke to a 26' boat i just bought. it is remote controls which i think is better than tiller controls. it doesnt have power trim so what i'm doing is using a panther lift tilt and trim. the one on the boat doesnt work so i bought the front bracket with motor and actuator for 225.00 off fb market place. started changing the bracket out and realized all i really needed to do was change out the motor and actuator. got that done in nothing flat. then i kicked myself for not getting what i needed for a lot less money. these are about 600.00 or a little less new. there was another one for 200.00 and i bought it for a spare off fb market place. if you dont get power tilt on you motor you may want one of these. i think cmc also make one. if you want a used one check out fb. i'll be starting out with an ez steer set up to steer my kicker from my big motor. they make brackets outboard to outboard or I/O to outboard. if this doesnt work i'll be getting the garmin reactor 40 auto pilot for just under 2600.00 for it. it's just for the kicker. i would go ahead and get the garmin but i already have auto pilot on the big motor and right now 2600.00 isnt in my budget.
  9. offer sent.
  10. like said above the caption of the vessel is the most important thing. we started salmon fishing on lake mi. started with a 16' deep v runabout with an old Evinrude 80 hp. fished it a few times for a couple of yrs. then we moved to fishing erie hard for a couple of yrs then bought an old 18' Cherokee that had been left under a tree in a field for yrs. then i got enough nerve to ask about it. i had to redo everything before using it. but i fished almost every weekend for the next 12 yrs. i still miss that old boat. but out 12 or 15 miles and it gets rough in a hurry i would feel just as safe in that 18 as i do in the 21' glass boat i use now. but i do feel more comfortable in my 21'
  11. will these work on the old mag 10's? i just bought a boat with long boom mag 10's on it. i would like to be able to adjust the booms. if they should work for me mark them sold. and i'll need them shipped. sending you a message.
  12. i just offered to buy them if the sale falls through.
  13. buddy if i hadnt just bought a 2000 mercury with controls for 1000.00 i would have bought your 2015 for 1500.00. thats a great buy for sure. i've even been thinking about making you an offer for yours and if you took it i would use my controls and sell my motor. if it doesnt sell in the next couple of days i may just send you that offer.
  14. yes if a fin on a pancake weight gets bent it wont run true. but i love them myself. but i only run 2 riggers 1 off each corner. then i bend the fin on the balls causing then to run out to each side. opens up the back for landing fish or running 1 down the chute., i run 12# pancake weights that i got off of ebay for under 100.00 for both of them. i only seen a set of 13# weights for 109.00 for the pair with free shipping.
  15. i had a 21' cobia glass boat and had a ray marine auto pilot that fits under the steering wheel. it did a great job even going into rough water. we never added a kicker as i was told without hyd steering it would burn the unit out running the auto pilot to steer the kicker without the big motor running. i just smashed this boat backing into the pole barn with the new top standing at rest for travel but needed removed to fit the door of the pole barn. anyway my oldest son said he would chip in and help me get a bigger boat. we got a 26' sylvan that has the auto pilot under the wheel. so I'm looking at stand alone units for my kicker motor. so far the best I've found for the money is the Garmin reactor 40 with GHC. i guess there is a way to hook into your GPS and not need the GHC saving 600.00 and letting you go to way points or tracks. but im not very good at electronics so I'd want the GHC on it. but that unit costs 2599.00 complete with remote for course changes and throttle control. i figure i save 300.00 on the throttle control so the auto pilot would really cost me 2299.00 because i plan on using a remote throttle control even if i cant come up with the auto pilot. the main thing I do is run with the wind or in the troughs for better boat control 90% of the time. now it I'm in fish and come out I will turn around and fish back through to see if they bite.
  16. good deal! i just thought it doesnt hure anything to ask.
  17. have you clicked on boats at the almost top of the screen. there is a couple you might be interested in. i found a nice 89 sylvan 26' boat last week and picked it up in erie pa sat.
  18. i'm not 100% sure but looks like rubber band release. hook it to the rigger ball then half hitch a rubber band to your line then place the rubber band in the end of release. just my thoughts.
  19. i found a couple of nice thompson 24' hardtops on fb marketplace. you might check it out.
  20. he didn't say he was going to pay for the parts. he said he would pay for shipping. he wants old broken units that he can get for free and use parts to fix his unite. the op can correct me if i'm wrong.
  21. YES! i dont think he has been back to this thread since i first posted on it. i called him and he made the sale by phone. my oldest son and i went up sat and bought the boat and towed it back home.
  22. thanks Paul, the boat seems to be as described. we towed her home yesterday. had a flat and was down 3 1/2 hrs. the spare was junk and the wheel wouldn't work. unhooked the boat and went and bought 2 new tires then back on the road.
  23. there wasn't anything said about planer boards and i didn't see any. is this boat set up to run big boards?
  24. as much as i would have loved to have this boat we just dont have enough money to buy it. were getting a 89 sylvan that's a little more in our reach. even if he took the extras off the boat we couldnt swing it. good luck selling it.
  25. yeah he might take advantage of his kindness. hey tom i know you wasn't one of the 5 complaints. they should have asked the guys i took advantage of if they felt like i had taken advantage of them.
