Skeet 1,   watch out for that brown guy...

hey tom sure been missing you guys. i had just put a new bimina top on my boat and just got back from erie. i backed the boat in the pole barn with the tip leaning back on the back frame. but it didnt fit and busted the windscreen on the drivers side plus pulled the top out of the boat and destroyed it. i had just a little insurance on it. but anyway my son and his wife said they would chip in on a bigger lake erie boat. so i started looking. tell all the guys on ogf i miss them.

  2. you said you replaced the long block with one from michigan motors. my whole engine in my 21' boat came from michigan motors. in 2010 i bought a new silver package and had them install it. the only problems i ever had was the water line on the outdrive busted and it overheated and blew both head gaskets. then another time on erie we heard the motor rattling and shut it off. the remote oil filter line vibrated loose and lost my oil.  but thats been a few yrs ago and she's still been running. so i'm a firm believer in the quality of there engines.

  3. we've been looking at your boat but we've also been looking at a few others. were looking at a 270 sea ray and a couple of thompson 24' hardtops. i totaled my 21' boat and got 4000 from the insurance company. my son and his wife said they would chip in on a larger boat so that leaves me for the rest. i'm not sure how much were going to come up with. i know i would do better to show up and make you an offer. but before driving my truck that far at 12 mpg i'd feel better if i knew we could buy it. you have it listed for 8500 or best offer. if we came up to look at the boat and offered you 7500 cash would we be wasting our time? i'm not insulting your boat or you, were just limited on money. we have to pay 7% sales tax that's an extra 5 or 6 hundred.  my son and his wife works 7 days a week recently but may be off this week end. would you be able to meet up sat for a deal if we can agree on price? how wide is your boat as we'll be trailering from muncie in to geneva oh?

30-06. You can drop down to a light bullet for groundhog and coyote. Jump up to 165 to 180 grain for deer, or all the way to 220 grain for black bear. Great all around gun. It was the first riffle I bought and I still use that gun. I've shot all of the above with it.

i love the 06 i used on wild hogs. one good shot 1" behind the ear and they go down and stay down. if i was buying for me it would be a 06. but i could see a small framed person going to the 270 if he was never going to hunt anything larger than deer.

  5. i'm getting in this game a little late but here goes. i used a friends 3006 for hog hunting and never even felt the kick. but if its a problem for you the 270 would be my choice. the 308's that i've shot including the m-14 in the marine corps seems to kick more to me then the 06. i love the way they shoot though.

  6. would not need a lot of the gear. don't need depth raider. downriggers. depth finder, and were trying to get 12000 together to buy a boat. i hit my top on the top of the pole barn door and destroyed the top. the top bent the window rail busting the window. my ins agent said it was totaled but i only had it insured for 4500 and i get 4000 from it. i've about got my son and his wife to chip in 5000. that leaves me 3000 for 12000 for a boat. i know your thinking the 3000 shouldn't be a problem but i'm a 70 yr old disabled vet and money is hard to come by.. i think i can come up with another 1000 then i can get 2 more thousand from our home equity line of credit. please don't get upset i'm just asking.

Its a good looking truck and the price is very fair. I also have a 2000 f 350 crew cab 4x4. And try to replace it at the price you are selling it for especially a 8’ box.

i didnt mean to say its not worth the money i'm sorry it came across that way. im just saying gor the super cab i wasnt interested at all. if it had been a true crew cab i might have tried jewing you down a bit, and found out if that was your asking price or your selling price. i have seen junk 4X4's all rusted out and they want 5000.00 or 6000.00 for them. i dont know the yr or the miles on them because i dont stop. if someone wants a super cab with only 105,000 it should make a good truck. when i make a fishing trip i have 6 people and need the crew cab.

Oh, I've made the same mistake lol, when someone was talking wire and didn't clarify it was for Walleye ... I wrote a story about 7 strand ... only to get a simple response ... NOT FOR WALLEYE FISHING! LOL.

LOL. I LOVE ALL THE PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD WHO NEVER MADE A MISTAKE. so i just made another one, my caps was left on, LOL.

  11. i still think that trailer being nose heavy could be the problem. weigh the load then with the trailer level the tongue weight should be 7% to 10% of the load. if it's more than 10% the boat needs moved back on the trailer. this is a good time to check total weight of the load against the trailer rating. make sure the trailer is level when hooked to your tow vehicle.

Looks like a extend a cab to me

yep i was just going to do a fyi to let him know that's what we all call a super cab. it is a nice truck with low miles but a crew cab has 4 full doors and a full seat with lots of leg room. i have a 2001 with the 6.8 with 170,000 miles. i would have been interested in a crew cab for less money. i bought my 2001 in 2007 f gave 13,000.00 for it then. but it didn't have 4 wheel drive and the price of trucks have went through the roof.

A full spool of wire on our reels is 1000 ft ... you wouldn't do that without asking for a tangle mess, when you fish for salmon.

yeah i'm starting to understand salmon fishing with 7 strand wire is a different animal. thanks to you guys for clueing me in.

  14. sounds like 1 of 2 things. the 1st is an overloaded trailer. the 2nd is the trailer is being towed with the front of the trailer to low putting undue weight and stress on the front axle and tires. get a tape measure go to a level spot and measure the tongue to the ground then measure the back of the trailer to the ground. if the front is lower than the back you need to get another bar for your hitch with enough lift to level the trailer. sometimes just turning the bar over will give you the lift you need. or just use a level on the trailer.

There is a gap near edges of spool where wire didn't fill well... thinking that contributed to issue also. I am going to spool fresh, and try a 30 or 50lb braid backing so it winds compactly.

i use my thumb to hold the line over to the side of the reel when i'm spooling line. when the line nears the side of the spool i'll take my thumb and hold it to the side until it starts back then i'll switch to the other side and do the same thing. it makes spooling a little slow but the line is even on the reel.

  16. i use a mono backing so it doesn't slip, then i tie on 30 braid with a uni to uni knot, then comes my swivel i tie my wire with a haywire twist to the swivel then cover with shrink tubing then tie the braid to the swivel with a improved clinch knot. reel on my wire and tie on another swivel for my leader. the swivels will go through my roller guides but they are a snug fit. the swivels i use is the weak link at 20# test there rated low because they never fail as long bas you don't do something stup^^
