  1. you can make your own with all thread and air fittings. or you can get the ez steer. or spend the big bucks for auto pilot. I think panther makes a steering set up but im not 100% sure.
  2. to start with all 16' boats don't have room for a kicker. but it is the best option. but if they use a plate be sure its the easy troller. it swings up if you forget to raise it. I forgot with a happy troller the 1st morning out and ruined the whole trip.
  3. I just use the hot hands toe warmers in my boots and my feet stay warm. if I come in for lunch I put them in a zip lock bag then use them for the afternoon hunt. usually your feet sweat then they get cold. thats why boots don't keep your feet warm.
  4. I use bags on my 23' boat I use on erie. but on my small 17' tri hull open bow I use the easy troller plate. either one will slow you down. they are positives and negatives to both. but with a small boat I like the plate the best. get the easy troller with the fins. the easy troller has a spring loaded lower half that raises up if you forget them and give the boat throttle. the easy troller is the best plate out there. I used plates for 30 yrs and used almost every plate on the market.
  5. i've got items i've bought off ebay in amazon boxes. as long as there authorized they can sell from anywhere. I still say steel screws or a steel brace or something steel is to close to the compass. is there a depthfinder mount close to the compass that could have been mounted with steel instead of stainless steel screws? make sure the screws used to mount the compass isn't steel. take a magnet and check them. take the magnet and feel around the compass mounting area for steel. only ss, aluminum, brass, should be used around a compass. if ss is used take a magnet and check to make sure its a good ss.
  6. check around and see if something made of steel is close to the compass. anytime the magnet gets close to steel it pulls the compass off. is the compass accurate before being installed?
  7. you can buy new accudepth plus 57 reels off ebay for 83.00 each. or get the sealine sg57lc3b foe 101.75 at amazon.
  8. i'm not sure who has it but a couple of yrs ago I seen one that you use a cordless drill to cock. but that co2 one would be even better.
  9. i've fished in smaller. but its best to fish the weather. I fished the western basin of erie for yre in a 18' Cherokee open bow. wasnt many days we couldn't fish. it was more about comfort or storms that kept us in.
  10. I have a pair of the big jon pro tournament that i' bought new a few yrs ago. the problems i've had is the auto stops quit working the 1st yr. I use 13# weights and the breaker on one unit kicks out at times. I contacted big jon and they gave me a name to call but I never did. I just reset the breaker and bring it on in. other than these problems they are awesome. a little fast going down for my liking but not a problem. if I had the money and was getting new it would be either big jon brutes or scotty.
  11. we just bought one of the new Beckman nets at a bait shop in Ludington Michigan on our trip up to Manistee salmon fishing. I cant give you much info off hand but it looks great, has rubberized netting, a large enough hoop for salmon and extendable handle. it was like 149.00 but they had one for more and a cheaper one that was out of stock. Beckman nets are back by the new owner.
  12. i'll take 3-5-6 if still available pm me payment instructions. i'll also need shipping.
  13. another easy way to get the boat up is to start going forward about 10 mph then hit the brakes hard. the boat will slide forward just about every time. another option is to change winches. a 2 speed 3200# fulton will pull it up for you. you can get the new model which looks good or the old standard model which looks like a winch for around 145.00 on ebay.
  14. to bad its not xl or it would be mine.
  15. its all in how the boat loads on the trailer. when the back of the boat is floating it doesn't matter how tight you winch the boat. once the boat is pulled out off the water and the back drops down on the trailer the bow is going to drop back. the only cure I know of is to pull the boat about half way out then winch it up again. you can try not pulling back as far to load boat. both my boats do this if I pull back to far. so I just use my electric winches and winch them on up after I pull them out. I use a large turn buckle for a safety strap. my 21' boat has a 3000# superwinch with 3000# holding brakes. my 17' boat has the same winch. my other 17' boat has a 2500# winch on it. I have no winching problems at all. I got the lt3000# superwinch off ebay for around 200.00. I think the new one I just put on the 21' boat cost closer to 250.00 because it has braided rope instead of cable.
  16. I have almost new pro tournament riggers. I use 13# pancake weights I use with then. 1 e kicks the breaker part of the time. I called big jon about it. they said to call back the next day and talk with this other guy. he said I would probably need to send it in for repairs. you might try just replacing the breakers. if these don't sell please contact me by pm later as I may buy them later.
  17. I would like to have 1.00 a lb for all the salmon i've caught on those green and chrome back in the day. always our go to plug.
  18. I started to switch to the traxstech holders because of the 17 up and down positions for setting them. but I liked the 1 hand operation of the cannons so much better I switched back to the cannon. don't get me wrong the traxstech holders are great being able to adjust from 1 spot below level all the way up makes them one of a kind. but the cannon can be set with 1 hand. just squeeze and lower it down. makes it real nice when I have a rod in my hand. I found the cannon single axis on line for 74.00 each whereas the traxstech is around 135.00 now. the reason for the single axis is you can adjust them left to right as little or as much as you want up to 70 degrees. the double axis is adjusted from one pin hole to the next.
  19. I like the single axis cannon holders the best. i've used the double but like the adjustment from side to side on the single axis.
  20. i've tried buckets before. but they just never slowed me enough. I use bags now and run as slow as I want. just tie them off to the bow before launching and take them back and lay over the side until needed. drop them over the side and tie off the back of the bags. to move locations untie the backs and pull them in over the sides.
  21. first off how do you get the dipsy to trip with mono? braid or wire is needed to trip the diver. I use 17# ande mono for my backing then power pro for my main line.
  22. back in the days before I got boat us I have towed a couple and been towed a couple of times. never had any problems with the towing. but my youngest son almost lost a finger when the line came tight in rough water when we was getting towed. if the guy driving the tow boat goes slow then backs off and makes a hard turn the boat being towed will coast right up to the dock.
  23. sounds like a bad pump. when the electric pump was going bad in my car it worked at times then would just stop working until it got to where it wouldnt work at all.
  24. I have boat us with trailer assist for 99.00 a yr. it would cost half that to get towed for gas. in the last 4 yrs i've been towed once, had my boat and trailer towed off I-75 down in ky. had a service truck come out and change a tire on my truck at no cost to me. in the long run its worth the 99.00 just for the piece of mind.
