Chinook Rookie

I'll be in Wilson this Friday afternoon thru Sunday. I was there last weekend and the fishing was tough as was the fog. I had 18 bites over the entire weekend with most being small fish. All of our bites came in 330-420fow. The fish are spread out and can be hard to find so I'm wondering if anyone wants to network together and share info so we all can have a more productive weekend? The more the merrier. Message me and I'll give you my cell number.

The 12 fish on was great, what I meant by abysmal was only landing 6. Lol...

Fished this morning out in front of the power plant in 110-180fow. Went an abysmal 6 for 12. Had 3 bites on spoons, 1 on FF and 8 on meat. All of the fish we lost were on meat. Not sure what the issue was. Of the six we landed the biggest was only 10lbs. Just couldn't find any big fish. I did have 2 guys with me that had never fished for salmon before so it was nice getting them both their first kings, even if they weren't very big. Coming back to Olcott next weekend so I hope some bigger fish will be in the area.

Some guys tell me they use a black light to charge their glow flashers, flies, spoons etc. Before they put them down and some tell me its not really necessary. I'm confused. What are your thoughts on charging your glow baits and Why? Thanks in advance for any comments!

Because of the cold NE wind yesterday I decided to head west in search of a little warmer water. Fished between Wilson and the bar in 290 to 340 fow. Went 8 for 10 with 4 coho, 3 steelhead and 1 18lb king. Coho and steelhead came on FF and king on a dream weaver black and orange alewife spoon.

Awesome! I'm on the road now, be at the marina in a few hours. Gonna fish for a few hours this evening. Will post if we find fish. 🐟

Glad to see the fish starting to become more active. I'm coming up tomorrow to fish until Sunday around noon. My boat will be in dock #2 all weekend. Stop by if you'd like a cold beverage. I owe you one for providing all the info this week. Lol...

If anyone is interested in fishing out of Olcott on Monday from sun up until noon or 1pm please respond as soon as possible. I have a 27ft Pro-Line walk-around and am looking for one or two guys to go out.

I've never used a wire diver setup and am looking for some advice. Does anyone use 19 strand wire instead of 7 strand? Why or why not? Do you have to use a swivel tip rod? I'd like to set up a couple of wire diver rods but don't want to break the bank. I fish out of Olcott maybe 3 or 4 weekends a year. Am more interested in what guys are actually using than just what tackle manufacturers say i should have. Thanks for any and all input!
