Hey all. Currently looking at upgrading my kicker. I have a 16ft Starcraft fish and ski bow rider. 90hp Merc 2 stroke. Currently running a 5 hp Merc 2 stroke kicker. I find it loud and it rattles a lot when trolling. I am thinking of upgrading to a four stroke to eliminate the use of an external gas tank and to be able to add a trollmaster pro. My main motor is oil injected so my main gas tank is not mixed fuel. Now question is. 6hp four or 8? I have an adjustable mount off my swim platform so I can’t put anything too heavy on it. The weight difference between the two motors is 20 lbs. I’m just worried the 6hp might not have enough power for my boat. Haven’t had issues yet with my current 5. Any advice? Was out today and trolled from everywhere from 90-220. Lots of balls of baitfish around the 80-90 foot range but little big fish marks. Anyone else having any luck. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
Ahhh. It’s the G2 version. I gave the original. I wonder if I can update mine. Will have to look into that Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
Have never fished using meat rigs with cut bait but wanted to try it. Heard it’s hard to set the roll up correctly. Is there plastics that can be used instead of real bait? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Thinking out loud... last year when having multiple lines. 2 on downrigger and 2 on Dipsy divers I was having problems with tangles. Was wondering has anyone used planer boards with dipsys to get the lines further away from the boat. Mostly fishing for salmon and lakers. But sometimes for walleye. Thinking about buying a set of planers but never used them before Any advice would be appreciated Thanks Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
I have a pair of old Cannon Magnum 10a's They are easy to service and work well!! Don't need to spend a ton of money for them as there are some used ones out there.
Hey all,
Adding two new rods to my gear and want to set them up with lead core. I have been reading a lot with mixed opinions so I thought I would ask on here to see what is working.
What size rod are you using when trolling with lead core!!
So to answer some more specifics.... I'm targeting salmon, trout and walleye. when i'm fishing salmon I usually am using 8'6 rods on my downriggers and dipsy's, Two on each side of the boat.
Was thinking that when I have a couple buddies on board it would be nice to add an additional two rods. So, your opinion, smaller rod? like a 6'6 medium heavy, or something similar to the 8'6.
I want to be able to use this rod for multiple species as listed above.
Thanks for your opinions.
Hey all,
Looking for some advice. I was wondering if any of you use the supplied swivels on your Spindoctor flashers. (See picture). I have been just tying my leader directly to the suppled flasher that was I can easily unhook to change fly color or flasher.
My question... Is it anyone's opinion that this swivel is too large, and not the best presentation? Just wondering if someone has had better luck with something different?
Thanks
I'm sure we could manipulate one of their kits to work with our motors, but they are pretty expensive to have it not work, so hopefully someone has tried this.
Has anyone installed a Trollmaster pro on a mercury 2 stroke. I was recently going to purchase one of these units but after looking at the install manual I contacted the company and they said that none of their models work for a 2 stroke engine. I find this weird so I thought I would ask to see if anyone has ever done it, or is using one of the models.
Thanks
It doesn’t fit that far out when trailering. It’s adjustable and sits up higher, only far out when in the water. I have looked at a couple platform mounts online so I might try that option. Anyone know any stores that would carry these on the Canadian side? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
Hey all I am looking for advice on how I can control my trolling motor from my main.
Problem is the kicker sits so far back with the adjustable transom.

So apparently I need a retro Power cable kit. ( It converts the old cables to the new ones) then I can use the flush mounts. Part number for the KIt is 3883220
Anyone have any of these? or know where I can get them cheap?
