Yeah here is the terminal end and release (similar to the Black’s Release) that came with my Magnum Metalz Downrigger. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I agree with Force of One. Against the majority, I don’t like those Blacks releases because of the “crimping” of the brass tube around the cable loop that secures the terminal end. I don’t have any confidence in my crimps. I do like the Klincher or Big Jon terminal ends (identical). So, I go from my terminal end, to my Fishhawk probe, to a snubber, to my 15lb Shark. Additionally, and most hated by the Shark crowd, I drilled a hole in the rear shark fin to clip my Scotty release to. I know, sacrilege. It didn’t affect blow back and I like my clip on the weight. I also didn’t like the Scotty clip on the cable. I was finding cable kinks using those cable clipped Scotty releases. My fault, because I didn’t shut the downrigger off in time, but that will happen a lot with me. Wow, little off topic, but slightly related. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
There is No leader on my downriggers. Its 30lb Mono to a swivel. When I go Flasher/fly, I go flasher to the swivel (that swivel is the terminating end of the Downrigger line, and a fly behind the flasher (50lb mono). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Never seen, heard of, or used the big “00” spinnies. I take kids with me often, so I like all the action I can get. Sounds like a good piece of gear for tournaments for sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
10 or 12” flasher: I like 32” to 36” from flasher to fly or spin n glow. 8” spin doctor: I like a 24” to 28” length back to fly or spin n glow. 32”-36” also works from the snap on a cowbell to the spinny. Rule of thumb is 3 x the length of the paddle back to the lure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
