Yeah that's for sure worse things could happen. Checked price on new probe, not quite as bad as was thinking. Guess I'll learn to inspect my rigger cables better!
Had a slow day out of Braddocks today. After stopping by Mitchel's to get some cut bait got on water 9:30-2:00. Did get a 7 lb steelhead in 90 fow on 300 copper with spoon. Went out to 250 with best screen about 160-180. Had a rip on the dipsy in 180 fow but we missed him other then that couldn't get anything going. Went into 120 for lakers picked one up right away on gambler rig. Then for some reason when downrigger was up cable tore sending my fishhawk probe an ball to the bottom off lake Ontario... OUCH!! Decided it's not our day and called it a day. Still a beautiful day out on the water.
I just bought a uniden vhf marine radio. My question is what antenna is needed for out on lake Ontario? There seems to be many different sizes, want to make sure I get the right one.
Good job everyone! Sounds like you all got into some fish. Hoping to get out maybe later next week. Hopefully the king bite gets more consistent with the lake setting up.
Nice!! Way to go. Do the steelhead hit about anything a king does? Spoons, FF? I hardly get any steelhead, I'm guessing it might also be that I don't fish far enough out.
We fished out of Braddocks as well 9:00-2:30. 5 lakers 1 small king fished mostly 130-220. Was hoping for some kings after playing with finger lakes lakers. Maybe next time.... still a great day to be on the water.
Quit at 2:30 couldn't find the kings. 5 lakers 1 dink king. On way in had 45 degree down 65 over 75 till we pulled them, marked some bait in there but no hooks.
Went out of Deans cove and fished south lines in at 8:30 out at 2:30 got around 17 lakers. 160-300 fow down 60-80 riggers, dipsy's, and 300 copper. Spoons and few on flasher fly. 5-7 lb'ers with few smaller ones.
