Looks like it’s going to be a good wind weekend up in the Henderson harbor area if any die hards haven’t put their boats away. Always a super fun weekend, nice give aways, good place to stay and a good potential to catch a PR. These are not Lake Erie punching bags.-

I would recommend Ted Kessler. Late October is probably kings in devils hole….or bass. -
In my experience, if you’re looking for fillets the most consistent is Onieda. BRB and Chaumont are both really inconsistent IMO….fish are there/then gone. Most of the fish I catch out of both bays are big spawners id rather not eat. Very rewarding when you do find them and make them bite tho. Of the two BRB is the more consistent for the time period you listed….just my opinion.

I like simple green for anything vinyl but these things are game changer for scrubbing the (carpet) that I have in my boat. -

Try running those crawler harnesses suspended when there is a bug hatch and fish are up in the water column. 1, 2, 3 oz inline keel weight seems to be the easiest as far as what I’ve used.

That wind is gonna be no bueno for fishing….lake should be rolling out of the west pretty good with sustained 20 for 3 days. We aren’t starting derby fishing until Monday. But there should be some warm water up high in the water column and a bunch of Ohio punching bags for the meat fishermen…..but where will the 30”ers be? That’s the question.

Ted Kessler is a great fisherman and a great teacher. He’ll put you on the best fishing whether upper river, lower river, or buffalo harbor area.

Just got back. Fished out of Barcelona Saturday morning until about noon and Saturday night until about830- 11pm. Same area….relatively small amount of water 14-50’. Lotta guys out with the nice weather and the tourney out of Dunkirk. I was doing some scouting for the derby. Landed 10 Saturday morning 18-25”…missed some bites, half a dozen sheep’s, a big cattie, and some big perch. Best bite was in 35-41’. Fished the same area but shallower Saturday night, after dark no more sheep heads, walleye bite was consistent landed 10 in about 2.5 hours. All around 20”…..all on lures run within 8’ of the surface, regardless of depth. Couldn’t find any derby worthy fish and it looks like the pros in the tournament couldn’t either. Good bite on eater fish tho. Didn’t make much difference what u had in the water…caught fish on an assortment of stick baits, crankbaits, and harnesses.

Some decent weights this year. Might have to get back in it next year….kinda miss it.

Not trying to argue with you but here’s some bass tourney results….. https://www.wired2fish.com/news/avena-wins-bass-pro-tour-on-cayuga-lake These guys are filling bags with 5lb plus average fish. Those are St Lawrence and Lake Erie numbers which are World Class smallmouth fisheries. If you think that gobies are bad for bass fishing I really don’t know what to tell you. I can’t speak to sunfish but gobies have turned our bass and walleye fisheries in NY into destinations.

I just think as fisherman it’s easy to complain about how “it’s not like it used to be”…the reality is though it’s kinda our job to adapt to keep putting fish on the bank. The environment isn’t going to quit changing regardless if you think global warming is a hoax. And the fishing in NY is absolutely incredible right now….and I think on a whole getting better.

I think the state record bass was just caught in Cayuga again. There are lots of bass in Cayuga. I know guys that travel some distance to crush large panfish up on the north end in the weeds. If you’re fishing off a rock on the shore in Ithaca , then I could absolutely see why u catch less fish than 20 years ago. Water is clearer and the fish are deeper. Cayuga is def not devoid of life, its fishing better than I can ever remember.
