3x on watching the dipsy bend for speed... No fish hawk for me yet. I am on year 2 and still have frustrating days, but definitely seeing improvement with time and practice. Keep grinding and you’ll find them! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
I would head west past the river and try 100-150 FOW, play around with line depth depending on temps and screen. Green Bikini spin doctor has been working well for me. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
Thanks! I’m honestly glad it wasn’t 35 lbs or I would be kicking myself hard for not entering the summer derby. Ha. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
Ok.. this is a late post but wanted to share since my more experienced friends keep asking me if I am in the LOC derby - didn’t know what that was until this weekend. We didn’t get out until late morning, headed from I-bay to just west of the River. Checked temperature on TD at 150 FOW, good break at 90 feet. Trolled north for a bit with no hits, so spun back around for south troll. Temp break was still good at 90 feet, but was marking suspended fish around 60, so we raised the lines. Hooked up with a screamer at 75 feet DR on green FF combo. Helped my 10 and 14 year old nephews reel it in - they had a blast. While releasing, got another hit on green/chrome FF at same depth. This one ran to 450 feet of line. Tried to let the nephews pull it in, but wanted to get her on the boat ASAP once she broke the surface. Threw the boat in neutral for the last 150 feet. Landed the second fish, it was a monster. Practically swallowed the hook. It took me a minute to get it out and was unable to revive her afterwards. We were not planning on keeping any fish so we did not have the proper ice/cooler.. we cut the trip short and ran back to port to get the fish on ice. Weighed the second fish once we got back to the house.. 29.3 lbs. (Same fish in both pictures) Thanks for everyone who suggested heading towards Braddocks. I don’t know if I’ll spend much time fishing East of the bay this year. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
Nice work fellas. Fishing out of I-Bay still remains tough this year. I am also interested in the top secret VHF channel. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
I’ll be out with my nephews, trying to get them their first “big fish”. 584-967-2727 Cory Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
Probably.. but my friend was out at 300 FOW and didn’t do too much better. I have been hesitant to go out super far since my boat is only 22ft, but if things don’t heat up I will have to watch the weather and give it a shot. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
Thanks for letting me know it’s not just me. Absolutely about the fleas, we realized pretty early that we needed to rotate lines. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
Went Northeast out of the channel, got set up in 150 FOW around 8 AM. Temperature break looked great at 80. Screen looked promising too. Tried 150-250 but couldn’t get any takers. Got frustrating after a couple hours, so we went back to 100 FOW for lakers. Trolled west back to port along 100 line, since screen showed them at the bottom. Ended with 3 lakers, all on green spotted spin doctor FF, DR along the bottom. Where the heck are the silver fish? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
Well, I was feeling pretty cool after doing well this past weekend. I tried 250-300 and 100-150 ahead of the Genny tonight, with no action but a small silver we lost behind the boat. Screen was pretty blank the entire time. Appreciate any tips from people fishing out of I-bay. Good luck this weekend and happy 4th! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile app
