AGM Batteries and spot lock?
Long time fisherman replied to Long time fisherman's topic in This Old Boat
Thanks Shakemsam!! I've spent hours trying to figure this out. My altinator only is rated at 18 amps. I'm thinking the safest way to go is with 22 lb lithium battery's wired 24v solely for the trolling moter and have them taken home to charge as needed... π€·ββοΈ -
AGM Batteries and spot lock?

My 60 hp Mercury puts out 18 amps max would that even be enough to change 2 100 amp AGM deep cycle batteries? π€·ββοΈ -
AGM Batteries and spot lock?
Long time fisherman replied to Long time fisherman's topic in This Old Boat
Than Thanks gator! We only go out when conditions are good. But our boat's a 20 ft Bass buggy pontoon with a canvas cabin. The Ulterra Quest is capable of 36 volts as well. Is there any advantages to go with 3 batteries to get more time? -
I want to get a new Ulterra Quest and have no easy way to charge Lithium battery's at our dockage. I'm rarely on the lake more than 4 hours. Can I get 4 hours from 2 100 amp AGM batteries wired for 24 volts useing spot lock or ipilot?? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated π Thanks!!

Is Frogger saying that you cannot charge lithium battery's from the altinator on whatever powers your boat? I have a 60 hp Mercury on my pontoon boat that I troll with, it puts out 18 amps. I'm considering going with lithium battery's but have no easy way to charge battery's where I dock my boat. I've not had any problems with the altinator on the Mercury charging my starting and deep cycle lead core battery's. I want to upgrade my trolling motor to a Minn Kota Ulterra Quest 24-36 volts. Would I be better off sticking with lead cell Battery's???

I live near Auburn. You're not that far away. I'll call you a bit later....

That's what I'm trying to figure out. What transducer is best. I'm thinking the guest model in 24 volts, 80-90 lbs thrust and a 60 inch shaft. It's going on a 20 ft bass buggy pontoon boat.... Also would like any thoughts on what's the best battery's to use to run the trolling moter and power my Canon electric downriggers at the same time. I'm hoping to be able to use the ipilot to steer the boat?? Is this possible? I'm going to need a different Hummingbird for following contours....

Anyone have an opinion on the new Minn Kota Ulterra Quest? Are they available yet? Because lack of physical ability I need the self deploy and retrieve system. Also what transducer is best for all around fishing. I mostly troll but do like to fish for perch and would like to try jigging for lake trout with the spot lock. Thanks!!
