  1. Thanks to all for the feedback and insights.
  2. Yep we just couldn’t get a weather break the week we were there. Headed to Seneca Lake for 3 weeks starting Tuesday… hope to score some nice LL salmon, Lakers, Rainbows, and maybe get lucky with some Browns. Keep on keeping on and tight lines!! PoJ
  3. What size boat are you running? Just curious as we fished Henderson Bay in mid May and really wanted to try the area you fished, but weather was horrible…even inside the bay. We have a Tracker GV-16 Laker DLX…16ft LOA with 6’2” beam powered by Mercury 25 EFT 4-stroke tiller outboard. PoJ
  4. Looking for feedback and recommendation on the good, bad or ugly on Thermo-Troll 840 before I invest. Thank you in advance for your feedback. Respectfully Pair of Jack
  5. See attached topo from iboat. Good Luck and tight lines. Pair of Jacks
  6. Best I could find is Bait Master located at 6976 May Rd, Conesus NY, 585-519-5996
  7. Sk8man…great insights and many thanks. PoJ
  8. HB2–I never like to diss anyone who is trying to help the rest of us solve a real nasty issue. When I was growing up in the 1950-60s and learning how to fish the Finger Lakes and their tributaries for trout. There were no zebra mussels or water fleas and to think someone might have figured out a life hack to mitigate the fleas catches BS is just wrong. Keep on keeping on!! PoJ
  9. Frogger—Gotcha I just respooled all my reels with brand new 20lbs mono and 100’ leader of floor so I like the idea of splicing in a 100’ section of 30 or 40 lbs mono vice respooling again. Many thanks and tight lines.!! PoJ
  10. Great video and absolutely a beautiful fish. I will be up there July 19-Aug 8. Staying near Hector. I have a 16’ Tracker Laker DLX with gray with “Pair of Jacks” on port bow. I will look for you on the Lake.
  11. So is the best practice to go with 30lbs mono to avoid fleas while trolling? What about my cannon downriggers with 200lbs wire?
  12. Thanks…I suspected as much around the West end especially at the mouths of the rivers as well as where LO dumps into the SLSW. Since I don’t fish LO or the Finger Lakes regularly enough I only invested in a Fish Hawk TD so I do not have a good sense of speed at the ball.
  13. Is the speed differential due to current in the lake and is this typical? thanks in advance for your feedback. Pair of Jack
  14. I am going up to Seneca Lake mid July to mid August and will be running numerous combos of spoons, sticks, and cranks. Spoons on downriggers and dreamweaver divers. Sticks and cranks on in-line planer boards. I bought a lifetime subscription to an app called Precision Trolling Data which gives me various line/speed/depth chart for just about every stick and crank ever made…I am almost exclusively a Rapala user but I do have a portfolio of older vintage Natural Ike crank baits that are incredibly reliable for multiple species. Here a link to YouTube info on the App: http://youtu.be/IBlh5d7XORo Sometimes I try to get real complicated by combining the Precision Trolling Data and interpolate the depth charts when putting sticks and cranks on downriggers. I will provide full reports on each fishing trip. Pair of Jacks
  15. We fished Henderson Bay May 14-21 all with 16’ deep Vs (Sea Nymph, Tracker Laker Guide V-16 DLX, and a new Lund Deep V16). Weather sucked and we got blown off the lake almost every day. Definitely review marine forecast as we did to ensure you have a good sense of what to expect and when to head for the dock. If you don’t have a marine radio use your mobile phone to get both forecasts and updates while on the water. Also many good weather apps have a radar map which is especially good at giving direction/storm paths as well as lightning strike data. Wind and wave increase will generally be ahead of the actual rai/lighting. PoJ
  16. Google Lens say definitely a milk snake.
  17. Nick—many thanks …we will be staying just north of Peach Orchard. Easy runs to either location. POJ
  18. My dad had a 1990 Sea Nymph 16 ft. After about 5 years he had a similar leaking problem. He eventually had the entire transom replaced… the dealer found a serious defect in the brass transom drain that allowed water to penetrate around the drain and the transom. As someone else mentioned… before I would jump to catastrophic issues like a bad transom I would replace the transom plug. Good luck Pair of Jacks
  19. We are going to be on Seneca Lake mid to late July into August. Where in general are good places to target trout/salmon. I recently fished Lake Ontario (Henderson Bay) and learned the art of trolling with downriggers, dreamweaver divers and planer boards using sticks and spoons. I have read about Gambler rigs etc and willing to try those as well. Jigging for trout seem to be popular but I have never tried it. I know the Lake well in terms of key land marks (i.e., points, towns, parks, etc. We will be on the water staying in the Hector area. Thank you in advance for any pointers. Pair of Jacks
  20. My 3 bothers, my youngest son and my nephew are staying in Henderson Harbor at the Morning View Cottage (Airbnb) for the week and our first fishing foray to Lake Ontario. So Sunday -we went 8/8…7 browns and one nice smallmouth. Only kept two Browns released rest and of course the smallmouth. All 6 browns were on a watermelon stinger on a downriggers at 25’ in 30-40 FOW at 1.6 SOG. We are still learning😎😎😎
  21. Luke you mentioned your second pike was “quite beat up.” Lampreys or fighting with other pike? Respectfully Scott
  22. Luke—-shhhh…let’s not give away the big secret😎😎😎😎 PoJ
  23. FF34--yep we have a large rubber landing net and practice all the same TTPs for stripers except we use rubberize fishing gloves to hold the fish along side the boat...please post orPM info/photo of your plastic clamping fish grips tied to a rope solution. Respectfully PoJ
