LOL. worrying about the cost does seem silly. It's another hobby. I'm in Ontario, so it's 2 lines per angler. Mostly I'm fishing solo, so that's 2 lines total. I spend a lot of time in the winter dreaming and planning about fishing when spring returns. That leads to trying to perfect things which are probably just fine. If it was boating/fishing weather I'd be busy doing, not dreaming.

FWIW, 30 degree flush rod holders point back, and 30 degrees off vertical. That reduces "spread". I don't know what it does to load. I imagine it reduces load on the Rod but haven't struggled to do vector math. I'm probably over thinking the topic. The reduced spread seems more of a concern with boat shy fish. I'm pretty sure it would be cheaper to catch my fish at the supermarket than in the lake.

Thanks Salty. I'll try it with the built in rod holders for a while. I have two 30 degree flush mount, and 3 more 90 degree (aka vertical) rod holders. Most of my fishing in 2025 will be solo, so I don't need more, or at least not often.

I'm used to running dipsy's with rods parallel to the water and 90degrees to the boat. My new boat has 30degree flush rod holders. Will dipsy's work well with that? Is there some adapter that would fit in the flush mount and let me mount a rod 90 degrees to the boat?

I'm new to salmon fishing and will mostly fish alone on Lake Ontario, Canadian side. The regs limit is 2 lines per angler. That isn't much of a spread. Spring recommendations? Summer? I have dipsy's, downriggers are expected to arrive in the spring. Are in line planer boards worthwhile?

A cheater should be legal, if one or both lures are spoons. Ontario regulations :"Two lines may be used when angling from a boat in parts of the Great Lakes and for ice fshing in many areas. A fshing line must not have more than four hooks atached." Hook – A hook includes a single-pointed or multiple-pointed hook on a common shaft but does not include a snagger or spring gaff. The number of hooks includes any single-pointed or multiple-pointed hooks that are part of a lure.

I live in Ontario and fish for salmon solo. Ontario rules limit me to two rods. I've been running dipsey's on both. Any suggestions?

A goldilocks. Not too big and not too small. Just right. 27' was too big. 14' is too small.
