  1. Thanks! I've been mostly trolling spoons, or dragging them along the bottom. I'll try trolling sticks and see if I have any luck.
  2. Hello! The community gave me some fantastic advice last fall about trolling on Owasco, and it definitely leveled up my fishing game, but the techniques that seem to work so well in a month or so aren't giving me much luck lately. Can anyone offer some general advice for this time of year (no need to give up your secret spots, I get it!) I generally get out in the mornings and am usually trolling, going back and forth between spoons on copper rigs or mono/downriggers, or leadcore/light copper on planer boards. Most days lately I'll land a just barely keeper size rainbow or two, usually in around 30-40' over 100' on a spoon on the leadcore, so I know that at least something is biting. I've been thinking about targeting something besides trout for a change, but I'm happy just to get a few bites when I get out. Thanks in advance!
  3. Thanks all for the advice, especially @T-Rok, my luck has definitely turned around!
  4. Thanks so much for all of the advice!
  5. Hello everyone! I'm located on Owasco, and I've mostly just fished around the coves and points for bass/perch, but after catching a few big lake trout on a charter last year decided to give trolling a try. It turns out I'm extremely bad at it, and I realize I have no idea what I'm doing. Could anyone offer some basic tips for an absolute trolling noob? Here is what I'm usually trying, I've caught 2 or 3 small rainbows but am mostly just driving up and down the lake for a few hours at a time with no luck, then head to one of the coves to catch a few consolation rock bass. Mostly staying around 60-120 ft of water, looking for baitfish on the finder, usually running North to South or South to North Generally keeping the balls at around 40-80, depending on what I'm seeing above Trying different spoons and spinners, usually 30-40 ft behind the ball, with a 10-20' 10lb mono leader Usually running 1.5-2 mph I'd greatly appreciate any advice that anyone could offer, especially if you're familiar with Owasco. Thanks!
