I am in the Southern Tier outside of Corning. It appears that the first pass of the rut finished up mid last week. Does and fawns back feeding normal, mornings and evenings. Didnt see any bucks for 3 or 4 days, Sunday night saw two smalls, last night a shooter that i never saw before and have zero pictures of. The bucks were all right at dark. Pretty normal

I am glad i pulled my boat the week before labor day...... And started shooting my bow! -
5 dead smallmouth , small ones 4 to 5 inches, dead in the water this morning off my dock on Seneca. The fish have started to make a pretty good comeback the last couple years, bass were around the dock all summer, some perch too. A few 12 inches or so but mostly small. Saw a few guys catch trout, so some positives. Then this am, dead bass! There have been a few algae blooms, a small one today. Hard for them to come back!

Got offshore aways a few years ago and the waves got nasty, north wind, so headed back downwind and a full spread out. A small boat, 18ish, Carolina Skiff type with a full bimini went passed us headed out. I said to my son, not sure what those guys are thinking. They got just about out of sight and the bimini disappears. Next roller and through the binocs i see the prop and two orange bobbers. We get 911 on the line, do a 360, get the wires and stuff in and make our way to them. Maybe 15 minutes We get the first guy fast, He was capable and maybe 225#s.. the other guy was full blown panic, whiite as a sheet, screaming etc. Took a bit but we got him. Coast guard arived etc. Tried but they wouldnt let us weigh either guy into the derby. Biggest catch in LO for us -
I feel your pain, it happened to me twice! Second time just lost the weight, Blacks release and termination gear. New Cannons, bad wire from their supplier. I was told by Cannon that the get bad wire sonetimes, they just replace the wire and i had to send the junk wire back. After the second break i replaced both downriggers with AWF wire someone recommeneded on here and its been fine even with the "speed" and "bouncing" issues. I dont dislike my Cannons, but i dont understand why they dont put the high quality wire on new downriggers.

Interesting report! I fished yesterday too and i was curious what others did so Thanls. From 6:30 to 8:30 the bite was on fire, you couldnt keep lines in the water. At 8:30ish it just stopped, like instantly. I covered a lot of depths from 9 or so to 11, no bites so started to pull lines etc and had a "chubby" hit but didnt get it. I havent had a "dead period" like that this year. Very weird day, you just missed the early craziness Good luck -
Thank you for the help and info!

This weekend is Sodus ProAm, my home port. Normally i stay away but this year i have a service member home on leave for a few days who hasnt caught a salmon before. So i am trying for Saturday but see the ProAm. I am just looking for feedback from guys who have fished during the ProAms, does it create any problems so to speak? Thanks

I have been fishing twice and its still in the package! Both trips started right out hammering fish and never even had a chance to try it Maybe next trip
