Lake Ontario- A little action out from Hughes Marina on this Columbus Day holiday, however the salmon run is not very spectacular to say the least. There are some staging kings out from the chute at Sodus Bay, however lake fishing is over for this season. It was another record year for Lake Ontario fishing, and spring fishing will be here before you know it. Streams-The kings and browns in Maxwell Creek is either a hit or a miss. The flow is not conducive for teasing trout to enter streams. A few browns were hitting egg sacs, but not like last year. Hopefully it’s a late start for stream fishing, but the word up and down the lake has been the same…a very slow trib season. Click here to see the rest of this report on ILoveNYFishing.com.
-
Lake Ontario- Out of Hughes’ Marina in 50 feet of water, down 30 feet there was some late season kings caught with spoons. Good fish for smoking. All the professional charters have pulled their boats for the season and what a season it was…kings, browns, steelhead, and lakers were all the bite from April till September. Another record year for Lake Ontario fishing. Click here to see the rest of this report on ILoveNYFishing.com.

Lake Ontario- You can still catch some trout and salmon in the lake. They haven’t all journeyed up the streams. Work the temperature close to shore for kings and browns. Use spoons. They have also pulled-in some nice browns from the Sodus Bay piers. Cast out heavy spoons. The Little Cleos have always worked or use Kastmaster spoons. They have the weight and the action. Lake Ontario- The lake flipped so there should be some action from the Maxwell Creek area or from the piers at Sodus Bay. Most charter boats are out of the water, with a few Wayne County captains fishing the Genesee River. The kings have been in 100 fow, and there has been plenty of hooks on the graphs, however this is the time of year that they aren’t hungry. Try cut bait or spoons and fish the marks. There are plenty of fish. You just need to get them to bite. The browns have been close to shore and if we get more rain, they will enter the streams, following the kings. It’s transition time for Lake Ontario fishing. Click here to see the rest of this report on ILoveNYFishing.com.

Lake Ontario- The big derbies are over; however, the big fishing continues. The kings are not staging yet, so they have been scattered. Try deep (500 fow) then work closer to shore. Straight out from Hughes’ Marina and Sodus Bay kings were in 200 fow down 70 to 90 feet. Flasher fly rigs have worked, mostly off the wire. Some nice steelhead were being caught at that depth, hitting spoons. Click here to see the rest of this report on ILoveNYFishing.com.

Lake Ontario - The LOC Fall Derby awards were yesterday at Captain Jacks, Sodus Point. The Grand Prize Salmon was a 33.08-pound king that was caught the first day of the derby. Poor Codey Allen had to look at the leaderboard for 17 days to see if he was bumped. However, Allen left Sodus Point with a whopping $25,500. It was worth the wait. Wayne County produced the largest brown trout, adult division. Bruce Raggi caught a 15.13-pound brown near Bear Creek and the youth award went to Connor Vogt, who caught a 12-pound brown fishing Wayne County waters. Currently, the salmon bite has been in 250 to 300 feet of water, down 90 feet. The kings are hitting everything; meat rigs, flasher flies, and mag spoons. There has been plenty bait being marked, so look for the hooks. Click here to see the rest of this report on ILoveNYFishing.com.

Lake Ontario- The king salmon bites have been scattered with the fish out to 500 fow and in at 120 fow. Look for the marks at 500 then fish into 120. Or reverse your troll and start close to shore. In 240 fow they were hitting flasher flies down 80. The spoon bite still works with Blue-green mags working. Today the south wind is cranking and predicted to blow for a couple of days so that will push warmer water out and bring cold water closer to shore. Look for the marks to catch salmon. All the ramps in Wayne County are open for business. You should not have any problems launching a boat. As of today, Tuesday August 27, there is still a no-wake restriction on Wayne County waters. That could change any day. The Loc Fall Derby runs until Labor Day, so you have plenty of time to hook a $25,000 Grand Prize king. Hughes’ Marina has weighed some nice kings and browns and still holds first place for the largest brown. No NYS fishing license is needed for the Fall Derby. Check the leader board at www.loc.org Awards ceremony is Monday at Captain Jacks, Sodus Point. Click here to see the rest of this report on ILoveNYFishing.com.

Lake Ontario- The warm water was pushed into shore with the west wind, however east winds could change that. The problem now is not the king bite or where to find temp breaks. The issue is the current warm front and pop-up Storms. Be careful and always check your radar before and during anytime on Lake Ontario. The salmon have been in 200 to 350 feet of water, down 60 to 80 feet. The spoon bite has been the best with meat rigs and flasher flies working. Most of the ramps in Wayne County are open for business. You should not have any problems launching a boat. As of today, Monday August 19th there is still a no-wake restriction on Wayne County waters. That could change any day. The Loc Fall Derby runs until Labor Day, so you have plenty of time to hook a $25,000 Grand Prize king. Currently, a 33 pounder leads. Hughes’ Marina has weighed some nice kings and browns. No NYS fishing license is needed for the Fall Derby. Check the leader board at www.loc.org Click here to see the rest of this report on ILoveNYFishing.com.

Lake Ontario- The recent blow pushed the warmer water out. Currently, which changes by the minute, the kings were in 200 to 300 feet of water, down 100 to 140. Flasher flies and cut-bait appear to be working. Green glow for the flasher fly rigs. The whole idea is to fish the hooks on your graph. In Wayne County you should fish straight out of Sodus and Hughes’ Marina. August 16th is this Friday. Mark that date like you mark fish because the LOC starts. During the autumn LOC fall Derby, you can take home a whopping $25,000 for a Grand Prize salmon. The derby runs August 16 through September 2nd. No NYS fishing license is needed for the Fall Derby. www.loc.org Click here to see the rest of this report on ILoveNYFishing.com.

Lake Ontario- It’s summer fishing for the kings and the bite continues. Sunday it was a north-east blow which is never a good thing. The lake flipped with 48 degree temps at 50 feet. But…the kings are still hitting. Charters are trolling straight out of Sodus Bay and working water 100 to 80 feet down 50 feet. The salmon like the meat rigs and flasher flies. Don’t forget the LOC fall Derby, where you can net a whooping $25,000 for a Grand Prize salmon. The derby runs August 16 through September 2nd. No NYS fishing license is needed for the Fall Derby. The website is www.loc.org. Click here to see the rest of this report on ILoveNYFishing.com.

Lake Ontario- The LOC Derby is over and the Sodus Pro-Am is over, however the fishing is not over. The kings have been 20 to 25 pounds, a little on the smaller side. But…they are all very healthy fish. Currently they are straight out from Hughes Marina and Sodus Bay in 120 to 140 feet of water down 65 to 85. They have been hitting spoons, cut bait and flasher flies. Purple has been the go-to color. The water temps down 65 feet have been 55 degrees. There is a cold front right on top of Sodus this afternoon, so everything will change overnight. Bays- Wayne County still has a no-wake condition. The Wayne County Sheriff's Office declared a State of Emergency on Sodus Bay, East Bay, Port Bay and Blind Sodus Bay effective 12:01 a.m. Saturday May 11. Lake Ontario- The 16th edition of the Sodus Pro-Am was last weekend, and although Sunday was a challenge with Lake Ontario waves…the fishing was fantastic. Teams that fished close to Sodus were catching kings with spoons and meat-rigs. The water temps on the surface were running 72 degrees with 45 to 50 degrees down 40 to 60 feet. The Am team winner, “Roll With It” caught one king off 300 feet of copper. It was quite an ordeal as the fish took out 872 feet of line. That kind of reeling is for the young anglers. For more information check their Facebook page at Sodus Pro-Am. Yesterday the kings were straight-out from Hughes’ Marina and Sodus Bay. The bite was in water 120 to 150 feet, down 50 to 75. Spoons still dominate; however, the meat rigs are taking some nice kings. Obviously, the Pro-Am teams are not giving away their secret locations, but the king bite has been lake wide…so go get them. Remember, the LOC Summer Derby continues through July 28. All the info is at www.loc.org/ Currently, a 29-pound king leads the contest. The largest BT’s on the leaderboard are from Wayne County, with Hughes’ Marina the exciting weigh station. Click here to see the rest of this report on ILoveNYFishing.com.

Lake Ontario-It’s a holiday week, however boat traffic on the lake will not affect the excellent salmon fishing. It continues to be another great season with kings, lakers, cohos, browns and steelhead all being boated. There are reports of the thermal setting-up in 50 to 60 feet of water over 100 to 140 feet. The kings are hitting straight out from Sodus Bay and Hughes’ Marina. It is still a spoon catch for the kings and cowbells and peanuts for lake trout. Lake Ontario-The LOC Derby starts this Saturday, June 29 and will run until July 28th, which will give anglers plenty of time to catch the big ones. And the salmon fishing has been excellent. The high water has made launching a challenge, however in Wayne County you can put in at Bay Bridge at the south end of Sodus and the town launch at Margaretta Road next to Arneys’ Marina. Hughes’ Marina, one mile east of Pultneyville has an excellent ramp for launching. At Port Bay you can put-in at the south DEC site off West Port Bay Road. Currently the salmon have been in water 140 to 200 feet, down 60 to 70 feet. Most charters are running spoons off the wire and riggers. The average catch has been 10 to 25-pound kings. Steelhead have been hitting at 25 feet over 140. Straight-out from Port Bay, Sodus and Hughes’ Marina have been the most popular trolling areas. Lake Ontario-Out of Sodus Bay and in water northwest of the chute was the action location yesterday. Also, straight out from Hughes’ Marina. Use spoons and work water from 140 to 200 feet, down 40 to 60 fow. Riggers and wire are working the best. The catch has been steelies and kings with lakers on the bottom. Cut bait has also been working. Click here to see the rest of this report on ILoveNYFishing.com.

Lake Ontario-It’s blowing today with west winds clocking-in at 15 to 17 with gusts plus 20 mph. This is a blow-off day. Before the latest wind, the salmon were in 140 to 160 feet of water down 50 to 60 feet. The kings have still been favoring spoons, however cut bait has been working. Riggers, wire and planer boards have been the set-ups for charter boats. Bait fish are scattered so it has been a search and fish routine. Straight out from Sodus Bay and Hughes’ Marina have been the best starting points. Click here to see the rest of this report on ILoveNYFishing.com.

Lake Ontario- After yesterday’s blow, Lake Ontario has settled. The kings are hitting straight out from Sodus Bay in 90 to 120 feet of water. The temps on the top are 51 degrees with 48 down 72 feet. Charter captains are starting to see a thermocline setting-up which should put the kings in a specific column of water. The catch this morning has been with UV spoons, bright and black colors, and there have been kings, cohos, lakers and steelhead all hitting off riggers, boards and dipseys. Bays- Wayne County still has a no-wake condition. The Wayne County Sheriff's Office declared a State of Emergency on Sodus Bay, East Bay, Port Bay and Blind Sodus Bay effective 12:01 a.m. Saturday May 11. Lake Ontario- Earlier last week the trout and salmon were swimming some where besides the south shore of Lake Ontario. However, as it frequently happens on the “big lake”…they are back. The king bite is on and they are in 100 to 150 feet of water. Spoons are still what’s working. Colors have been black and green or orange. Use your favorite spoon: Moonshine, NK’s, Stingers, etc. The browns and some steelhead are also hitting. Charter boats are using boards, downriggers, and divers and are fishing straight out from Sodus Bay or straight out from Hughes’ Marina. Click here to see the rest of this report on ILoveNYFishing.com.

Lake Ontario-Saturday and Sunday was a quiet day on the water, however today it’s cranking from the northwest. Maybe it will lay-down tomorrow. The mudline should be great for the next few days, however the charter boats are looking for kings, not browns. Straight out from Sodus Bay has been a good starting point. They were in 100 to 130 feet of water down 20 to 30 feet. The spoons were the hot presentation with UV green, black and silver working the best. Of course, that can and will change with today’s blow. Set-up in 150 feet and see what happens. The pen-raised salmon were released last Thursday. All were healthy. They were 77 per pound and averaged 3.5 inches in length. Lake Ontario-The salmon bite is on with the kings in 30 to 40 feet of water. Today, the kings were hitting 14 feet over 40 feet. The presentation is spoons and stickbaits with bright colors working the best. The browns are still in the mix; however the king bite is the main attraction. They are catching the salmon straight out from Sodus Bay. Don’t forget the LOC Derby. It started Friday, May 10th. Make sure you sign-up for this iconic event. Click here to see the rest of this report on ILoveNYFishing.com.

Lake Ontario- Some kings are showing-up in deeper water…25 to 40 feet. The browns are still close to shore in 10 feet; however, the kings are “luring” anglers fishing a deeper pattern with riggers. The fog has been thick last week, but today is clearer. Winds have been from every direction but calm today. Browns are hitting the usual presentations with black and silver and perch color stickbaits a good bet. Click here to see the rest of this report on ILoveNYFishing.com.

Lake Ontario-It’s the last day of April. Tomorrow is opening day of spring turkey hunting. But this is a fishing report so here we go. Unfortunately, we have been dealing with winds. Today is nothing, however east wind is coming tonight. East wind and Lake Ontario fishing are not compatible. And now we have high water to deal with…but the fishing has been excellent, so let’s focus on that. Click here to see the rest of this report on ILoveNYFishing.com.

Lake Ontario-Brown trout action continues with close to shore fishing. The wind has been somewhat of a problem, however when the charters can leave the docks, the excitement begins. Today is an off-shore wind and there is still a mudline on the lake. Often the best way to fish stained water is to troll in and out between clear and muddy waters. BT’S love the cover.
