Cayuga algae bloom update anyone?

The lake seems to be clearing up the weed mats however are terrible.  The lake has been a off green cloudy milky weedy mess since around the 4th of July

I was on Cayuga yesterday. Fished in and around the Aurora area. The algae bloom is in all it's glory 😲.  Signage at Long Point State Park warning of the algae bloom.

Any updates on the algae bloom this weekend? Any fishing reports? Looking to head there this coming weekend.

No news from me I’ve stayed away hopefully get up there this weekend as well

The lake still is quite turbulent with all of the rain lately.  The water clarity to be getting better but the weeds both loose and giant weed mats are never ending.    aren't as much as a nuisance as they were a week ago.  We had some pretty stiff north west winds on Friday night that really seemed to clear up the lake.

How is North end Deans Cove area?

The farthest north I have been in a couple of weeks was between Sheldrake and Long Point.  More of the same weed mats and weeds its not unmissable but definitely a nuisance.

Thought I’d share the satellite images. Dean’s Cove area still looks green, but the farther south the cleaner the water.

NOAA monitors all the Great Lakes. I’m actually new to the finger lakes area but used these satellite images all the time when I lived in Ohio and fished the west end of Lake Erie. That area gets hit with algae blooms every summer.

Fished Sunday 7-30-23 Deans cove . Water was a little green but he fish were biting 5 lakers and 2 rainbows

Fished today the lakenis definitely clearing up from the green milky mess it was for most of July.  Was north of Sheldrake some today and that was where the most weed mat problems were.  Fleas on the other hand are a big issue.  No 50 lb mono isn't keeping them off no flea flicker line isn't working when they are thick enough to stick to downrigger cable nothing that fits on a reel is going to keep them off.  Wire divers are even clogging at the roller tip.  Only solution is to clear lines often.   Good luck out there be safe tight lines everyone

Had same trouble with flees. I thought Canandaigua was bad but Caygua has there own special breed .!!!!!!!
