Stagers can be hard to get. They are not feeding. Try to use large bright annoying rattle lures and try to keep them moving near bottom and fast. Shallow floating divers or jplugs on lead or heavy bottom bouncers or 3 way rigs and Kwik fish and dredge thru the marks. It’s a grind with snags and be on the rods in a fraction of a second but if you want them they will bite, and on the good days you will get some matures doing that. If that’s your plan grind them out and if not going by daylight slip out to brown or laker water or head offshore for steel and teens!

I fished stagers Tuesday morning for a few hours. First time out in almost 2 years.

went 2/5. Worked 75-95’ red barn to microwave-All fish on FF

meat and plugs went untouched. A lot of weeds floating around- had to check rods often. Graph loaded with fish

Yes, you definitely took it to the limit …man… I would have thought fish would be in tight with the NE wind. Was the lake turning over at all?

60 foot buoy off the Oak. Not turning over but cold water working in. Curious to see what it says in the am.
Passed on it this morning and again on Sunday. September always seems to close like a door just as the bow hunting door opens. Gotta love that.

Went today. Temps stayed the same. Calmer lake but slower bite. Took 4 kings all 10-15 pounds. 100-200’ fow. A few bigger steel as well. Mostly meat rigs 80-90 down. Might try AM tomorrow before we head home. Out of Olcott. Bite was better towards Wilson.

We decided not to go out today and instead head back to Ohio. Lake was flat this morning of course. Thanks everyone for your posts and help. Hopefully we can do it again at some point next year!  We are back to Lake Erie walleye fishing till the snow starts. Good luck everyone. We had a pretty good year on the two trips we made up there this year.

Going to be heading your way in early November to throw my hat in the ring for the walleye derbies.

Fished Saturday evening 90 to 130 fow Olcott to Wilson.  FF and spoons were both good.  Only smalls on meat.  Most action in the top 40 (ice water after the NE blow) 8/14 with 6 kings and 2 big steel.  Sunday fished same water but skinny 60 to 90 fow.  FF on 5 color and high divers were best.  50 foot rigger took hits but mostly smaller kings.  Ended 10 / 14 with 7 kings 3 steel.
