Couldn’t pass up what is probably the last nice day so I headed out on Oneida this morning.  Tried to start by launching at Godfrey’s but the wind was howling and the waves were rolling.  So turned around and went to Oneida shores where the lake was much calmer.  Launched and headed out toward marker 130.  Was marking a decent amount of fish in 25-28 fow but could not get a bite.  Blades, bucktail, shiver minnow… no takers.  So headed a little deeper and decided to troll.  Finally got two keepers to the boat but that was all for the morning.  These were my first two walleye while trolling stick baits on lead core…something I’m working on getting better at.  Both came on a bare naked reef runner on 3 colors out about 120 ft.  SOG was bouncing between 1.7-2.0.  Been a tough fall bite for me this year, had to work a lot harder to find them this year.   But all in all not the worst finish to the season.  Now it’s time for some tree stand time in the woods.

if you’re still fishing (or hunting) good luck and stay safe…

I love November. Big baits and bigger ‘eyes. This was the smaller of the 2 I caught tonight casting, threw the 24”er back. Was hoping for an eater but settled for this 23”.
