Nope mainline right to the diver. Personally I run 12' leaders from diver to the bait.

Main line to the diver.I never liked mono to the diver as it was a **** to trip it. Always ran something that doesn't stretch.65 lb braid or wire. I always ran a fluorocarbon 20 lb test leader from diver to spoons and 40 lb Ande from diver to flashers and flies and never exceeded 8 ft or so in length so I didn't have to hand line fish into the net
