VHF radios

Does anybody have any suggestions about brands of radios? Mine does not transmit and to have it serviced I'd be looking at over $100 for hourly rate and the cheapest possible part. I don't think it's worth it for an old radio. Are there any brands I should stay away from based on reliability and customer service?

I have a Cobra Marine and LOVE IT! It's about 5 yrs old and has been dropped MANY times and been wet a few times and continues to work.

Lots of good ones out there for little coin. Shop them and buy to your budget.

Don't overlook your antenna. Even a top of the line VHF won't function well without a good antenna.
