I've been told that most people don't use steel leaders with their downrigger setups on Lake Ontario. I am interested to hear what most people are using.

thanks...

Not sure I understand the question, but here on the north shore of LO, we start off in spring with 15 lb. Ande and run this till the flea,s show up and change to 30lb. Big game for the pesky critter,s and the big boy,s. :):) -Garry

I was referring to the connection at the lure. Do you just use a snap swivel and no leader at all?

thanks

Tabu -

1st - Welcome to the site.

2nd - 99.5% of Big-O trollers do not use a steel leader. That's more for Northern or Musky fishing. Although you occassionally do get a bite off in the fall, bite-offs are pretty rare most of the year. Snap swivels or just snaps are the norm.
