November 2 pm

44 degrees

NW wind 10 mph

Cloudy skies

Long quiet sit this afternoon until and hour before dark and things got crazy. Handful of bucks chasing and bumping does. I noticed a lot of button bucks by themselves in the past couple of days. Scrape activity seems to have slowed a bit. The primary scrapes are getting hit but no doubt a lot less secondary scraping happening.

Exactly the same on all your observations over here in Niagara county. The same reported from friends in Cayuga and Alleghany counties as well. There has definitely been some early lockdown and I think its starting to break free again. Lonely, skittish fawns seen all over. Good luck Rob.

33 degrees

S wind 5 mph

Partly sunny skies

Textbook perfect bow hunting  morning weather wise. Tons of does/fawns on their feet in the first hour. Probably the most I have seen all year. I did see a handful of bucks also doing buck things. Cameras were busy with Nick movement most of the morning.

So  the story this buck moved in to one of my spots like a week ago and was daylights so I knew it was time!  I hunted one side of the property he would be on the other day after day!   Finally Thursday had a doe come by a spot I picked and make a few shooting lanes (most people who know me know I hunt from the ground a lot so I have to make a lot of shooting lanes). So he was behind  her and she went right thru my opening and he skirted it and stayed 45 yds into some brush enough I didn't wanna risk a shot. I let  him him walk away without trying to sling one.  So

Yesterday sat a different spot mid property and first thing in the morning had a buck come thru dark enough I couldn't make out enough of the rack to confidently know it was a good buck or not.   So at 11 here he comes to my right, straight at me he's 35 and walking right to me . So had to grab my bow And turn without him seeing me again he went in my shooting lane I stopped him and he stopps perfectly behind a tree .. so waited and let down for him to go to next opening  he kept going further to my right. So I had to keep twisting without standing up.  He stopped on his own in an opening and I lined up sent it and  hit him back .  ****.   He ran like 40yds then slowly walked away just wobbling back and forth. . so I waited 2 hrs checked sight for arrow no arrow . Checked for blood and had some but not a ton but enough to follow and stomach content's in the blood.  So  he wasn't dead in first 40yds from where i saw him. So backed out for a full 24hrs to play it on the safe side he was going right into a thicket so hoped he would get in there and bed down. Went back today and we found him right there where I expected he did lay down 4-5 times before his final bed but he was right there!

He is a main frame 8 that had triple brows points on each side. He did break one off so only had 5  but still pretty cool buck none the less!

I have been hunting hard the past couple of days. Lots of bucks seen. Handful of shooters. Deer doing what you would expect for this time of year. Some midday chasing the past 2-3 days in the thick stuff. My best camera seems to be one on a pinch point between two big blocks of woods and one that I have in the thick stuff. No doubt there is some breeding going on. The unwilling Does are literally hiding.

The weather sucks...looks like I will sideline myself for the next 36 hours

I’m fishing in this crap weather… 2 weeks of vacation and Mother Nature has other plans…better than work… looks to be an above average November also

Surprised to see a pack of 6 does walking around last night and not getting harassed. Maybe too hot and the bucks didn’t want to break a sweat.

Gotta love November! Hunting in Irondequoit for the deer reduction program through the Irondequoit PD. Was hunting off Seneca Park Ave (just loaded with bucks) and I saw an absolute slammer (out of range,  along with a couple of other nice bucks that I passed on November 4th. I texted my buddy Manny about one of the decent ones I passed and he was like “you should have shot that one”.

So with those words ringing in my head I got back in there on Nov 7 and sure enough that buck presented me a chance at 19 yards around 8 AM, put an arrow in him and filled my archery tag! Always wild to shoot a decent buck right in the middle of Rochester, I do love hunting the city sometimes! Attached is the picture of when I passed him and then obviously when we wasn’t so lucky lol.

Buddy of mine hunting our property with me last night put an arrow in a nice nine. The coolest part was that we got the entire sequence on video! Anyway, we found blood but sporadic and so backed out when the buck went into the thick stuff. It proved to be a wise decision, as we found the deer dead single lung/liver this morning. In the meantime, another buddy arrowed a ten point not 150 yards from where the buck was lying.

It's been a sweaty morning hauling deer around. Here's the video; I'll let others post hero pics if they want, but here's a cell pic of the second buck as well, from about two minutes prior to its being shot.
