Well it has been quite some time but I'm back in the deer woods on a late season sit with my kid. Deer movement has been pretty steady since we got in here. We are on the ground this afternoon and just quickly brushed ourselves in. Less than ideal conditions but hoping to see something decent that's wanting to fill it's belly.

Our cameras have gone super quiet the last few days. Glad to hear about deer sightings.

A quick report...

Deer were on their feet early even though it rained the last 1.5 hours of daylight. They showed up like gun season never happened. Love the late season! Actually had a bachelor group of bucks show up (5 bucks together) about an hour before dusk.

Friday looks interesting. Don’t think tomorrow looks like much fun.
Never paid attention to what Ash trees were in the past but now when it’s windy they are pretty spooky.

Wind is the enemy for me when it’s cold. Need enough to keep scent behind you but that’s about it.

Was hunting a cut corn field last night. Most of the deer have been coming out after dark but last night they came out early. Had an old big body buck show up around 4:30. He was beautiful, by far the biggest buck I have seen this year. Problem was he was busted up. Missing his right side and had a couple broken tines on his left. Had great brow tines and could tell by the left main beam that he had great mass. Funny that throughout the season I’ve passed some pretty good antlers because the buck didn’t have the body and now I’m passing a buck with incredible body mass because he’s busted up. Will say I was very tempted and a little disappointed.

I had a half rack four pop out today that I almost popped thinking that he was a she - until "they" turned a bit and I saw the other side.

Contrary to many, my deer are still playing hide-and-seek. Very few daytime sightings, little movement. That fat broad has started humming.

She sure is. Niagara River on Monday. Back on the field this afternoon. Wind isn’t perfect but I’d love to see the deer that broke up last nights buck.

Me holding the antlers lol. I thought about giving a bigger spread but that wouldn’t be right. That’s a rap. Great season.
