I was hoping that someone may have tried the Rapala Magnum lures for lake trout. They make one that trolls at 30' and 40' down while trolling between 2 or 3 mph. The silver one actually resembles an alewive a bit. Hoping someones had success while using these while trolling for lakers. Where I fish 30 to 45 fow is where the trout lurk in June. Thought it may be an alternative to spoons and dipsy divers??

I have with mixed results. Trolling slow with K7 and K9 kwik fish were a better option than the rapalas.   Erie guys are using my death traps with Gambler Rigs off leadcores, riggers, divers and coppers in those depth ranges with a lot of success.

Rapala Magnum lures are a great alternative to spoons and sinkers when trolling for lake trout, especially in the deeper waters where these fish hide. Their ability to reach great depths, natural action, and ruggedness make them a great choice for the conditions you describe (30-45 feet deep, 2-3 mph). They can be a great addition to your trolling toolbox, providing an effective solution for targeting lake trout and increasing your chances of success.
