Son’s friend called in four last night, killed one. Cold weather is here for a spell. Just put the first roadkill in the backyard today. Curious to see how long it takes before they start to visit it.

Got my son out on his first predator hunt the other night. We scored on our second set of the night! He loved being able to watch it all come together

What’s everyone doing with the fox/yotes…. Up until this season used to have a guy that would buy them green.  No longer interested, from what I hear most are ditching them in the head rows … hate to just kill them n leave ??

If I get nice ones I will get them skinned and tanned. Anything I don’t want, I will give to a friend.

Still kinda new to pred hunting.  Just picked up a thermal scanner.  If anyone is interested in showing me the ropes, shoot me a PM

You will want a thermal optic as well. The scanner gets you in half the game, but if you consistently want yotes, you want to stay dark. Foxes don’t mind the red or IR lights near as much.

Oh 100% agree.  But want to see how much I make it out to justify dropping $2-3k on scope

Yah I fully understand that. I will tell you to jump in full throttle. It is so much fun and honestly, one of the easier types of hunting to go out and do with pretty consistent action. Plus it seems like the last type of hunting where people will happily give you permission. I am about 3 real seasons in and it is quickly becoming one of my favorite types of hunting. If you have any questions about a thermal scope, send me a message. I did an insane amount of research and I'm on my second scope lol. There are a lot of gimmicks out there and one of the biggest things you need to worry about is base magnification.

Been doing a bunch of research as well and what i've learned:

BOCO

640

12µ or less detector

minimum 60hz refresh

As for knocking on doors....I've knocked on 10 to hunt coyotes, got permission for 1 property

If you are going to go 640 you better have a base mag setting of at least 3.5 for fox and yote hunting (if shooting longer than 100 yds). Lots of guys get duped into the 640 prices for the 2x base mag and well guess what, with just one zoom up to 4x you are now at the shooting level and resolution of a far cheaper scope. This is not to say that the 2x models are bad, I previously ran a Rattler in the 384 and we had great success with it. This is the main reason I went with the AGM Adder TS50-384. Its base mag is 4 which is the highest in the industry so far, so it matches lots of the 640 scopes on the second zoom setting. So far I am very very happy with it. I called lots of thermal dealers and they all pretty much admitted that without going to the Bolt TH 50C price range (4K), then there is almost no advantage to a 640 optic vs the higher mag setting 384s. If I did move on from the Adder it would be for the Bolt which has a 3.5 base mag at 640, which to me is then a significant upgrade in resolution while maintaining the longer range capabilities. Just some food for thought, though you may have already known it all!

If anyone sees any deer on the side of the road, can you send me a PM. Looking to get my bait pile going. I haven’t seen any anywhere which is pretty unusual

Called in a nice fox for my buddy last night and he put a good shot on it. Action filled night with foxes at all other sets and a really close pack of coyotes that we couldn’t coax into the field. Starting to heat up a bit!

Nailed a coyote last night. Little video from the set! Got the coyote checking out the bait pile and I will admit I got a little lucky that I was just checking the bait out when she walked in from my left! One of the most beautiful coyotes Ive ever shot and I believe what they would call a "red" color phase coyote.

Beautiful Yote Isaac!  Great work Manny, Ethan and all. Tommy’s friend was very excited to get out with you guys. I dropped his fox off to get tanned for him.

I think my wife might have me murdered if I did that  I am going to have it skinned and tanned.

It's easier to beg for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission.  Just do it. She will get over it.
