You can definitely hear it, but I'm sure you'd get used to it. Make sure you have 10" of depth clearance behind your steering wheel before purchasing.

I was interested in putting the same unit in my boat but now I'm not sure about the 10 inches behind the wheel. The boat is in storage now so I can't check. I have a 1997 Penn Yan 225 outrage. Has anyone used the octopus in that model boat? Or have any idea if it will fit?

I have a 1995 223 Rage. It requires a moderate cut out in the wall to clear the motor.

They all work. I currently have A-Tom-Miks, Howies, Big Weenies, ITO's, Dreamweaver Action Flies and Siggs Riggs flies on the boat and they all catch fish.

As far as colors, If I had to limit myself to 4 colors of flies that will cover all water and light conditions, they would be Green Crinkle, Hammer, White Glow and Mirage.  Others certainly work, but those 4 will always keep you in the game.

Does the drive have an override so you do have to tun unit off to change heading?
