Good morning ,

I have a shimano tekota 600lc which holds 1000’ of wire and wanted to try a Diawa saltist, does their 30 series fit 1000 feet of wire or do I need to go to size 40 ?
Also are their any vendors at Niagara show with reel specials ? Thank you for any input

The saltist 30 is almost the same exact size as a tekota 600.  I have both and prefer the new saltists.

Thank you guys for reponses , I have okuma 303s and 2 tekotas , and lots of older reels I need one more reel for WD and heard lots of good things about Saltists wasn’t sure if they were used on wire divers .I am far from having matched gear so thought trying a Saltist couldn’t hurt anything. Appreciate the help.

Yes it will hold 1000' of 30lb wire and some backing.

Go with the best you can afford....

We have used all the brands of reels on the market...

In my opinion, Saltist and Tekotas are pretty close ..

I currently run Saltist 40s.   I put about 400 ft of 20 lb backer, then 1000 ish ft of wire. The 30s will work just fine with no backer and 1000 ft of wire.

I like the retrieval rate of the Saltist 40s ...

I'm another Saltist fan.  Superior drags, NO diver creep, fast retrieval and quality.  Buy them and you will only buy them once unlike other brands / models.

Big thanks from a small boat guy! Last year I was sweating bullets running a 3rd wire diver (fearing expensive tangle )after no issuses using 1 and 3 settings on 124mm divers on calm waters, the results some days makes me want a 4th . Also a perfect excuse to sample a Saltist if she asks 🤣

4 divers puts more fish in the boat IMO.  My Saltists are on roller rods.  I'm a huge fan of roller rods.  No friction on the guides partnered with super smooth saltist drags makes battling kings a lot easier!

lotta guys like the old style 700 LC Tekotas. Hard to find, but they make the retrieval of the dipsies so much easier..

Thanks guys l have not gotten to roller rod level yet but maybe some day , also I’m not quick enough to snatch up an older Tekota 700 missed a couple in last 4 months !

I think I’m going to pick up Saltist 40 seriesLC  at show if one is available . Really appreciate your input from you guys who do it daily . Thank you
