OK I HAVE THIS  SYLVAN EXCURSION 21  FOOTER HAD A EVINRUDE 175  FITCH    SOLD THAT  TRYNG  BUY A  MOTOR BUT  WHATS HARD IS  I NEED 20 INCH SHAFT LONG 

 

WOULD  A  GOOD JACK PLATE WORK ORE   NOT A GOOD IDEA

I have seen 115s out there and a 140 out there this winter in the 20 inch shaft length.  By out there I mean Ohio and east.   I have not seen the V6s out there.    I am talking about new ones or leftover new.

In that class of motors (150/175) a 20 inch or L shaft probably more common than the 25 inch or X shaft.  Get the right motor for the boat-saves a lot of headaches.

If the jack plate you use has at least 5" of lift, I can't think of any reason it wouldn't solve your problem. As the 25" is 5" longer, if you can raise it 5", you should be good to go.

 there is a nice year old Suzuki on fb market place for only10k with a 20 " shaft. check it out.   Lots of nice o/b's deals on fb in Pa. and ohio
