I wonder how much the ice boom affects spawning walleye, bass, steelhead, musky and sturgeon?  Has a study ever been done?

I like the boom being in place for fishing Erie. It delays the Perch spawn for more favorable conditions (less wind and warmer) . It also delays the Walleye spawn so that it is still going on when the season opens back up in May.

how does the ice boom being in place at this time impact the salmon fishing in Lake Ontario? Curious.

The longer the boom is in place, the longer the wall of cold water coming down the Niagara keeps the kings bottled up West of the Niagara River.

Last weekend in April 2019. We fished the King of the Lake and won it so we stayed back to collect our winnings while all the other US teams headed back. I got a call from Paul Czarnicki (damn I miss that guy) about the ice pack coming out of the river. We left St. Catherines marina and got within a few miles of the river and had to go North to get around the ice pack. We found ourselves 7-8mi offshore in over 300+' of water and the ice field went West to about 4 mile state park. Boy was that eerie!

Reminds me of a couple episodes of Deadliest Catch where they fish the edge of the Arctic ice pack!

Was by the lake yesterday the ice is from the boom as far back as the Hamburg beach area across to Pt. Abino.  Then open to Ohio.

I'm not making any excuses, but maybe their workforce isn't up to where it needs to be. I know many companies are struggling to find quality employees in todays market. It's easy to get on here and ****, but without knowing the whole story it's kind of pointless.

Scotty powers his house with "natural gas" lol. In his case, it's a renewable resource.
