Info Request- South Shore Rochester

Newer to trolling the lake this time of year. Been out quite a few times now with low fish count. I have tried every color out there spoon wise and quite a few stick baits. Fished today for a few hours with one hit, anywhere from 10-30fow. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

 

also any info on using chinook divers would be helpful.

I run #1 and #2 chinook divers on the 4 setting out 15-25’ with a 8 foot leader and a spoon.  What speed are you trolling?  With the cold water, slower speeds are best.

10 - 30' might be a little deep.  Fish are still in tight to shore. Start in 6 -10' and work your way our if not finding fish. Vary your speed until you find what they want. 1.9 - 2.3 is a good starting point when the water is still cold. I don't have any experience with chinook divers but you really want to be in top 5-maybe 10' of water right now. Weight rods, flat lines, short coppers or lead.

thanks for that info. Seems to be pretty close to how we're running them. Any chance you would know what would cause them to roll in the water? Out the other day with about 12' of line out and everyonce in a while it would roll and shoot out of the water.

Been averaging around 2.2-2.6

Thanks for the info. Went out Saturday had some luck on flat lines. Have been watching videos about weight rods so I'm ready to get back out.
