down rigger rod?

What pound mono do I need to get for a down rigger rod? Also not sure how the set up looks mono to lure. Thanks

you can use 10lb line until the fleas show up then you have to go up to 20 lb so you can shake then off

EVEN THOUGH 10 LB IS PLENTY the wear and tear of knots and release will catch up to you with a good hit ...15 lb min maybe 17lb max will put that fish of a life time in the net ,better safe than sorry plus if your intentions are to release the fish you can get it to the boat quicker with less stress of a longer fight

If you spool the reel w/ 30# Ande, you are set for the fleas and you can take it up to Lake O. For running spoons, I would use the allbright knot to add a decent stretch of 10-15# flouro, then swivel, then a bit more flouro to snap. For flashers just tie the Ande to the big snap.
