I have been having a problem with my fishfinder staying on when i get out on the water, usually after messing with the wires for a while it will stay on. I have figured out that it is the 3 amp fuse. If i take the fuse out and hold the ends together it turns on and stays on. I know you have to use the 3 amp fuse to keep the warranty good, saying that, is it ok if i dont use it. What are the chances it is going to mess up the unit. Or is there another alternative. It is a lowrance . Any help would be great, thanx.

The glass type fuse holders corrode easily. The contact ends can be cleaned by scraping with a knife blade. I try to install the fuse block holders with the brass connections as they hold up better and the fuses are visible to check for their continuity.
