I have acquired another boat its a 1977 Glastron ssv 189 with a inline 6 merc. The kicker is there is no spark so I replaced the coil still no spark.....Asked the guy at the parts store and he sold me another coil but made sure this time it was one that didn't need a external resister hooked that up and still no spark. ran a new wire from the key directly to the coil and still no spark. Now what should I do sell the boat before my head explodes????? Any one with some help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Distributor. Not the cap, the whole thing. Had it happen to me on my old inline 6. Put in electronic ignition. Thats wht I did and it worked. Cost me about 400 bucks installed professionally. Boat ran much better too.

Those are one of the best motors ever made. Very simple also....there is nothing to that system. Just follow the hot leads with a tester to find out where the break is. Ignition systems don't get easier than that one, so it's a very basic problem.
