I have been tying on a swivel for the fly and then attaching it to a protroll or spin doctor....should I tie directly to the attractor instead?

Thanks, Ray

It doesnt matter if you use a swivel or not. I prefer to tie an overhand loop knot in my leaders just to make things quick and easy. It offers the advantages of being able to change out flies but with less hardware to worry about.

Tying a swivel minus the snap is the way the Fish Doctor taught us to do it. The overhand loop works, but the mono becomes distressed after a few big fish, and weakens too much.

thanks for the replies...next time out, I am going to try with the swivel and without and compare.

Thanks, Ray

I have been told the overhand loop gives the fly a little better darting action. That being said, I have put swivels on most of mine for the reasons stated above. I feel it is a better connection over the long haul.
