Dad, Adam and I attempted to fish the Fairhaven Challenge today, but since we had done so lousy fishing out there the past 3 years in unfamiliar water, we decided to fish it out of Olcott.

We figured we had til 11:00 to put a box together so that we could get the boat back in the slip and closed up in time to hit the road by noon to make the 3:00 weigh in deadline.

Started inside in 50 fow in front of the red barn and saw a great picture on the graph. Dropped lines as soon as the GPS showed 6:00 am (tournament start time) and made a couple passes N-S out to 150 and back, after an hour and a half of not moving a rod, based on the good offshore reports we've seen lately, we pulled lines and ran out the the 25 line and set up again trolling North.

Made it as far as the 30 line and turned around, very few bites on the north troll, more action on the south troll but we couldn't hang on to anything today ended up 3/12 with 2 decent (8-10 lb steelies in the box and 1 dink steelie that was released). No kings for us today.

A couple bites on cut bait, including one of the nice steelies, but other than that, all a spoon bite, flashers and flies were very quiet today for us. R&R's and NK's got the bites.

Temps were great, we had 48 deg down 50.

Obviously we didn't bother making the 2 1/2 hr run to Fairhaven for the the weigh in :$

Looking at some other reports and from some of the chatter we heard on the radio, looks like we should have stuck it out inside.

We sucked today, oh well, that's fishing :(:(
