I recently bought a boat with 2 Big Jon electric riggers. The are date stamped 1986, but are in good over all shape. When fishing in say 100' feet water, on the ball retrieve the thermo overheat button will trip 3 times. I was using 10 lb. rigger balls. What is the remidy for this? Any one suggest a shop I can have them repaired at? I can live with it for now, but this would be handy to have fixed over the winter.

Thanks Lavarock

Make sure you have a solid 12 volts coming into the rigger, well charged battery, good connections, no corrosion, or undergage wire. You should have at least 12 gage wire, bigger is better. Also make sure the pulleys move freely & are lubricated at the axels. If all of this is OK you may need a new motor.
