Some spoons dont have a ring. I prefer to hook a quality snap swivel directly to the spoon with no ring because it is one less thing to fail. I do wonder if the spoon action suffers from doing so??? What say the experts?

Thanks

If your snap is round and doesn't impede the action of the spoon then go for it. Otherwise I'd look at some quality rings.

If it has a ring I hook to the ring if it does not have a ring I hook to the spoon.

Ditto what Shade said.

If the manufacturer goes to the trouble of putting a ring on, then they feel it gives better action.

I also don't put a ring on those that don't come with them.

Run them the way the manufacturer intended them to be ran, otherwise you'll compromise the action....now on the otherhand if your walleye fishing or running scorpian size stingers or regular size stingers adding a split ring does increase the action of the spoon but sometimes to much I have doubles of alot of my favorites for Erie and sometimes they want it with the ring sometimes without but I tweak my walleye presenations to death. Salmon spoons I run them out of the box I've played with adding rings and always go with running them them back to out of the box. my .2
