With the good weather for tomorrow I was thinking of trying for some Steelhead. How far out and what type of lures does one need to use. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Tight Lines Fishgill

Look in the reports section and look for reports from the port you are fishing. The further offshore the better (usually). NBK, Gators, Chickenwing, and froggy glow are some of my favorites.

From Mexico Bay, try in tight for Kings early, then head out deep for steelhead. A NW heading out to 400-500 fow will get you into steelhead country. Find a scum-line, you will find bait........you will find steelhead. Fish 62-52 degree water with spoons. Those temps will be anywhere from 30-75' down.

One of my hottest spoons for Steelies is a Gold hammered Doctor spoon with red or orange edges. Size of spoon is a 285 or bigger. The spoon is very speed forgiving and has a wide erratic wobble that gets a lot of attention. Most any spoon with red or orange seems to be a good color. Chicken wing is a good choice too. crushed green glow spinny and a jitter fly on 18 inch flouro leader works pretty good too. What everybody has said....go way out to deep water find a scum line and weave through it.
