I am looking to get a new sonar for trout and salmon . I don't want to spend much more than 250$. Any suggestions?

seriously, Ordinarily I would suggest you hold off until you have saved up some more money to buy a better unit. $250 doesn't buy much.

However, that being said, it looks like Bethel Marine still has some of the Raymarine DS500X's available for $260.00. These are a discontinued model factory closeout, new in the box with full factory warranty. Nice unit, color, dual freq transducer and 500 watts RMS power (very important). I think they went for around $600.00 when they were still in production.

I bought the DS600X from there this spring which is basically the same unit with a bigger screen for $325.00 very nice unit, but those are all gone. I think you'd still be happy with the DS500X.

Thanks. It looks like a great unit. 500 rms will be plenty of power. I like the color screen too.
